Hoosierbird 09-06-2011 04:43 PM

OK guys, been really busy. Got the front end ready to paint. Checked the front axles and found the driver side was bent so I used the one out of the other D30 I bought. Got the axles sandblasted and waiting to put the u-joints in tomorrow. Bought me an 8.8 so I gotta start tearing it apart and cutting off all of the brackets to weld on the new. Stay tuned.....

Hoosierbird 09-06-2011 04:45 PM

I need some new dust covers for the disc brakes on the 8.8. If anyone know where I can buy them let me know. I'll post some pics of the painted front housing in a little bit. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hoosierbird 09-06-2011 09:28 PM

Well, I didn't get it painted but I did get it shot with epoxy primer......

Let me know if you find them I need 1 also. Lol

And also what are you using to paint yours?

Hoosierbird 09-07-2011 01:20 PM

I'm still looking for them. I used an air descaler, then wiped everything down with solvent, then used a metal prep that is my home made concoction (3 parts water with 1 part vinegar) works great on all bare metal, then shot it with epoxy primer and then going over it with acrylic enamel chassis black but I like to use the high gloss because it is so much easier to keep the mud cleaned off.

Damn wish I had the supplies to do that. Looks like I'm gonna be using a flapper wheel wire wheel and so elbow grease. Then spray bomb. Lol

BlackedOutYJ 09-07-2011 01:48 PM

Found some here http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...e+Dust+Shields
But doesn't say if they'll fit a 8.8 and I only need 1 but if you need 2 here ya go.
