Dynomax Super Turbo Cat back install
 
I just ordered the dynomax cat back kit from summit racing (Dynomax Performance 17345 - Dynomax Super Turbo Exhaust Systems - Overview - SummitRacing.com) and it should be here by Friday and hopefully installed by Monday. Is there anything i need to do before installing? What should i do during the actual install? (I appreciate the help, Im new too this and dont really have any friends that have down it themselves)

You will need some long socket extentions to get to the muffler flange bolts from the front of the TC skid plate. Do not tighten the exhaust clamp on the muffler "out" pipe until you have every thing fitted and hangers in place all the way to the rear. Once you dent the connection with that u-bolt clamp, you're done.

The kit comes with everything you need except one important thing... the nuts for the flange bolts. You can re-use the old ones if they're in good shape, but one of mine rounded off pretty good during removal so I'd recommend having new ones handy. Also have a saw-zall or other cutting tool handy because your old exhaust probably won't come out in one piece. I cut mine in half and it came out easily at that point.

Rather than using extensions to try reaching the nuts...I just dropped my t-case skid. Prop up your t-case using a 2x4 or something, remove the 4 nuts in the center of the skid that attach the skid to the tranny mount, then slowly loosen all the large bolts on the skid (I used a lot of PB Blaster and then heated them before attempting removal as I've heard the nutcerts like to break off--then I used a breaker bar and gently applied pressure until they broke free). I used bungee cords to hold the skid once I removed the bolts which made reinstallation a breeze.

Once you get all the old stuff off, installation is a breeze.

Why do I need to drop my tcase skid? I know on newer tj's the cat and pipe were connected with bolts but on mine its welded to the cat and then pipe, muffler, exhaust pipe. So will I still need to drop the skid?

Didn't realize they changed...if you don't need to access anything above the skid, then there's no reason you'll need to drop it. You also shouldn't need the two nuts I was talking about either then.

Alright sweet. I actually got it today (turns out it shipped from about 2 hrs away and i ordered before ups got there) I plan on doing it myself today (my dad is out of town on business and it dosnt seem too difficult) So does anyone have any tips for getting the pipe off the hangers? The rubber bushings at the end of the stock, do they go on the new one because its just a regular piece of metal..

Yes, you re-use the rubber hangers, or buy new ones. You can remove the hangers from the frame if it makes it easier..(depending on rust). Mine came right off. No salt here.
