Weird noises 2011 Sport

I have had my 4 door sport since April and have noticed that when I hit about 2000 RPM's, this awful noise happens.. It's hard to describe with words but I think it is coming from the rear.. possibly the heat shield above the exhaust? I am thinking it is just rattling but am not sure. Anyone else had this happen? Sound like I even need to worry about it? Thanks.

More info?

Describe the sound better :)

Haha. Did you take a peak yet?

I banged around one day on various parts under the car and the pan above the exhaust came the closest to the noise.. really, it's hard to put to words. Almost like a grinding/ metal vibrating? Just was wondering if anyone has experienced this.

The jeep hates you for calling it a car :(

Jack the jeep up, take any stress of the suspension components, spin the wheels. Might help you find it.

Does it happen when you're parked or only when driving?

There's a heat shield on the exhaust right behind the transmission pan.
At certain rpm's it sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard. It's hard to find, the easiest way is to have someone rev the motor while you look for it. Put on a pair of gloves.

Assuming it's a heat shield, just put a (about 3") radiator clamp on it and tighten it down a bit. That one is there to protect the tranny pan from heat, so don't cut it off and toss it in the trash.

If that isn't it, you might find it with the gas pedal or a rubber mallet, but it sounds like a heat shield.

I'm kind of getting an engine grind/scrape noise fairly faint sound but it sounds to me as if it's the engine or transmission not sure though
