OK, So I Finally Got My Wife To Ride In The Jeep With The Top Down...

...and she was scared to death that she was gonna be ejected onto the highway in a crash.

She insisted on wearing special headgear for the occasion:

I'm still LMAO!

Baby steps... She won't even go near my Harley in the garage.

p.s. We didn't crash and she wasn't killed. She said it was "the ride from Hell".

I teach kids with mental retardation.

I showed the pics to my kids this morning.

Even they said she looked like "a retard".

I normally don't allow that word in my classroom, and they know it. I just couldn't argue with 'em, though.

themoneypit 09-07-2011 12:44 AM

my wife didn't like riding with the top down the first time. I think the fact that it was 27F that night might have had something to do with it. The helmet is hilarious.

Supercop260 09-07-2011 12:46 AM

Just wait til you try to go doorless. My wife requested I leave her door on if I took mine off. I told her that would unbalance the Jeep and it would fall over.

Awesome story. Sometimes there really is only one word to properly describe your thoughts and no real harm is meant.

You must have the patience of a saint to do what you do. Kudos dude.

Who was taking the photos? Did your neighbors see an opportunity for $10K on Americas Funniest Videos and chase after you or something?

Oh, I've got plenty of stupid wife questions that are Jeep related.

We had gone to dinner with our daughter and son-in-law. Gotta make sure she eats enough for my grandbaby (due in APR). They thought she looked so funny that they followed us down the road taking pictures.

I e-mailed the pics to my brother-in-law, who has owned 4 or 5 Jeeps. He called her this afternoon, laughing hysterically.

This is probably the best pic I've seen on the net. My eyes are litterally watery. Awesome!

TRubicon 09-07-2011 05:22 AM

Classic.

Good answer! My wife is surprisingly welcome to the doorless thing. Strange, as she is an ER nurse in an inner city and sees everything bad there is to see from motorcycle highway hamburger to stabbings and gunshot stuff. She has threatened divorce if I got a motorcycle or handgun. Which is fine, as I really don't have much desire to own either. My refuge is the Jeep with the top and doors off, however.

Maybe that photo shouldn't circulate too much. It might give the DOT ideas.
Bad ideas.

rev2red 09-07-2011 06:26 AM

With our 99 jeep, my wife wouldn't let me take the jeep to work if I had the top off so I can kind of relate to your situation. I laugh and cry at the same time.

Funny stuff

It's amazing the false security that glass and plastic can provide

My wife already questioned the doors off
Scenario

gryph 09-07-2011 07:27 AM

Somebody show her a pic of what happens to the roof of a jeep in a rollover!

Btw - funny pic

Glass and plastic? How about vinyl and canvas?

I don't know about his wife, but that is the reason my wife has for not taking the top off. She had a convertible when we first met. She never had the top down on it, because it would mess up her hair.

Too funny! Sunday was the first day with doors and top off. The wife muttered something holding the bar above the glove box but within minutes she said "I WANT A JEEP"!

Jaysrubi 09-07-2011 08:54 AM

Thanks for the laugh. The helmet is hilarious!!!

I was going to say the same thing. How could you be so worried that you would wear a helmet, but not wear a seatbelt??

Thanks for the great morning laugh.
