2012 colors as reported by Chrysler.

Dear Jack:

Thank you again for your email regarding the 2012 Jeep Wrangler/Wrangler
Unlimited.

Please be advise that the Sahara Tan Clear Coat and the Natural Green
Pearl Coat is no longer available for order on the 2012 Jeep Wrangler
and Wrangler Unlimited models. This adjustment was made within the
ordering system as of late-July due to an early buildout.

According to my provided resources, the 2012 Jeep Wrangler/Wrangler
Unlimited is available for order in the following exterior paint color
options:

- Black Clear Coat
- Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat
- Bright White Clear Coat
- Cosmos Blue Clear Coat
- Crush Clear Coat (orange)
- Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearl Coat
- Dozer Clear Coat (yellow)
- Flame Red Clear Coat

You will notice that Sahara Tan Clear Coat and the Natural Green Pearl
Coat is listed within the exterior paint color options under the "Build
Your Own" feature. Please keep in mind that the "Build Your Own" on the
Jeep website is meant to reflect the 2012 Jeep Wrangler/Wrangler
Unlimited models within the dealerships' inventories and not the
ordering system. The ordering system changes on a frequent basis,
therefore, your preferred Jeep dealership would have most up-to-date
ordering information when you walk through the ordering process with
them.

I am so bummed.

I'm not in love with any of those colors, and I wish Tan was still available.

I love orange (wanted Mango Tango), but I think Crush will be a bit "too" orange for me.

Looks like it is Winter Chill or 2013. I could not find a single 2012 Sahara or Sport S within 200 miles of me that had the options I wanted.

Happens all the time with Wranglers. Non-traditional colors are often only orderable for a short period of time. You've got to order quick, find one on a lot somewhere, or pick another color.

You can paint it any color you like. Get a real military tan that way

kjeeper10 12-25-2011 07:55 PM

Or paint a brand new jeep whatever color you want :D

Sahara Tan had a very short window of production, so you had to order one within the first month or so. I barely got mine ordered in back in early July, and I cut it really close. They made some based on random dealer orders, so you can still find them, but you won't be able to order one. It's worth looking around, though, the color is really sharp and it definitely stands out. I get a lot of compliments.

Funny, when i bought my 11' sahara tan it was a fairly new color and they, at least at first, sat on the dealer lots! There were write ups on the color and people were afraid it would turn out to be one of those bummer colors. My dealer had 2dr and 4drs that seemed to sit on their lots for awhile! I personally always go for what I think is going to be the underdog color and saw some potential in a military look!

People seem to either love or hate Sahara Tan. Not sure why. Put some black rims on and you've got a military-looking Jeep. How can you hate that?

Oh and I had someone tell me it was a girl's color. They called it 'cream.' Okay, go tell some Army soldier that he's wearing a cream-colored girl's uniform. See how that flies.

LOL ^^^

I get a lot of comments from others at the Dark Charcoal Pearl - cast understand why it didnt last long.

rics1997 12-25-2011 10:36 PM

I love my color. Never figured out why it had such a short run. It may be the rarest JK color out there. They only made Charcoal Pearl for 2 weeks and all of a sudden stopped production with no reason why. Know it was a pain to get matched when i had my hood done. The paint shop ended up having to get the blending cd from chrysler and have a tint specialist mix the paint.

I consider myself fortunate that I was able to get my 2012 in Nat Green Pearl. Very fortunate.

Jeeps have that as part of their heritage it seems, weird color changes and availabilities at weird times.
Kinda cool when you can be in on it and it works out for ya.
