231 t-case, 4:1, sye, Novak shifter

Bought this off the jeepforum board a few months ago, but things have changed, and jeep is for sale - pending already, so no need for this case. Local pickup, or I can meet within an hour or so of Valparaiso, IN in any direction.

231 t-case, tera low 4:1, sye (not sure of brand), 23 spline input, 1310 u-joint for front, novak shift kit. I can get pics if anyone needs em (can't upload at work, which is where I am at now)....

Price is 850OBO as well - no trades

IndyJeepMan 09-09-2011 06:01 PM

Ugh. I want this.

mtu1293 09-09-2011 07:06 PM

then you should buy it :D

we can do a lay-away plan if that helps - lol.

mtu1293 09-10-2011 11:51 PM

Not a Lokar shifter, did some internet research here at work tonight, and it's a Novak setup (SK2X)

IndyJeepMan 09-11-2011 07:04 PM

Messaged you on Fbook.

mtu1293 09-11-2011 08:51 PM

lol - I had to have my wife check the message since I can't access book at work. I can respond to that message tomorrow morning when I get home, or shoot me an email tonight and we can check on some stuff.

mtu1293 10-23-2011 03:04 PM

$800 firm

Garner 11-02-2011 08:22 PM

can you get sum pics ? dose it fit a a tj?

mtu1293 11-02-2011 08:45 PM

As for fitting a TJ, I've heard they do, but you may want to search on that first. I'ld assume it's a direct bolt in, but don't quote me on it.

Garner 11-02-2011 09:23 PM

do you know how many miles is on it or how long it was in use?

mtu1293 11-03-2011 03:30 AM

I was told by previous owner it has 6k on the 4:1 kit, setup for 1310 ujoints, and been used on the trails about 8-10 times. Personally I never used it cause after a month of owning the t-case I put the jeep up for sale and used it. It does fairly clean, at least on the outside - I tried all the gear selections and seemed to work fairly smooth.

mtu1293 11-17-2011 10:31 PM

still available, and could ship on buyers dime. Hoping to get a crate made up if / when I ever get an off day again.

whY402Jay 11-22-2011 03:55 PM

I'm guessing you don't plan to sell separately... I want your SYE

mtu1293 11-22-2011 06:15 PM

thats correct - sorry not parting out.

mtu1293 01-03-2012 07:07 AM

Well unfortunately still have this - $750.... Can meet an hour any direction of valpo.

mtu1293 01-11-2012 02:46 PM

Okay - got enough interest in people to have it shipped. I have a crate made up for it, but don't think shipping is cheap. Haven't officially weighed it yet, the t-case setup itself was 74lbs but haven't weighed the crate - I'm thinking at least 100lbs.

IndyJeepMan 01-11-2012 02:52 PM

I wish this was on my build thread lol.

Hows the razr? I gotta ride shotgun sometime.

mtu1293 01-11-2012 05:27 PM

lol - no reason why it can't be added.

rzr - has been fairly idle since the summer. Will be ready for the trails / silver lake come spring and summer though. Took the Powerwagon to the Badlands for this years TFT, so at least I'm still wheelin - lol.

mtu1293 01-26-2012 08:06 PM

tax returns are coming - buy me - lol....

I am new at this so this may be a dumb Q. If I was building a Rubicon clone would this be the transfer case?

No question is a dumb question. Everyone has to learn at some point. There are a few guys on here who try to make newbs sound like idiots or at least feel like it, they've been building for so long it seems like they feel it's their right to. Anyway, the transfer case is 23 spline input which mates to an AX15 transmission. AX15 transmission is used for a 6 cylinder motor. Which do you have?

I have heard of people swapping inputs on transfer cases and also people buying adapters or kits to make a 23 spline work for the AX5.

the transfer case in the rubicons is a NP241OR with a 4:1 low range.. the above is a NP231 trans case that comes on all other wrangler models however you can buy a kit called a tera low 4:1 kit that can be added to the NP231 to give that transfercase the 4:1 low range. It's the same basic concept as the NP241OR

yes, and that is the kit this one has to give it the 4:1. One thing to consider is where your speed singal input is as well. Older jeep, like the one this one came out of gets the speed signal from the t-case. The rubi case I believe doesn't have this cause the newer jeeps get the signal of the axle. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

But to answer your original question, yes this case basically would be the equivalent t-case to the 4:1 for a rubi clone.

WeaselM29c 01-27-2012 11:20 AM

Looking a building up a 2004-2006 LJ. Inline 6,auto, dont know what the trans number yet?Need to look that up.

mtu1293 01-27-2012 11:34 AM

well from what I found out before was that you would need to change the input shaft on this tcase to go to an auto. I had a guy with a mid 2000 TJ looking at the case. From the people I talked to it could be done with some money and elbow grease. I didn't check to indepth though cause the guy was looking for a tcase to just drop in without doing more work.

Jeep_Gypsy 01-31-2012 11:14 AM

Do you still have this T-case? If so I'm interested in it and am willing to buy once I get the all the money together unless you're willing do some sort of payment plan.

mtu1293 01-31-2012 11:34 AM

As of now still have it - as for payment plan, not sure how we'ld do it that would be in both our best interested. If you have a suggestion shoot me an email or pm.

I'm not sure off the top of my head.
