good deal on 2011 unlimited Sahara?
Moving up from an 03 Liberty Renegade. We haven't really done the "drive around to dealers" but have done it on the internet and by phone.

We started out looking at the Rubicon but decided we didn't need that much off-road capability for the price.
Here is what we are looking at:

2011 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited
4x4(of course)
power convenience group
deep tinted glass
tubular side steps
leather wrapped steering wheel
anti-spin rear differential
chrome and leather wrapped shift knob
power windows
full metal doors
430n RHB with 1 year Sirius Travel Link included
Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearl with body color 3 piece Freedom Hard Top with panel storage bag

I tried to list anything that wasn't standard that this Jeep will have.
The Jeep currently has cloth seats and they are being swapped out for aftermarket black heated leather to match the black interior. Dealer says that's a $1200 add on.
It does not have the tow package, having that added after the fact and it does not have remote start, also having that added after by dealer.

Dealer is asking $34,614. We are trading the '03 Jeep Liberty Renegade(dealer hasn't seen it) with 127k miles on it for $6000 trade-in allowance. Taking the %0.0 at 60 months and also getting $500 military cash.

Price on the Jeep after trade and military cash is 28,114. We are financing in tax and title and transferring a plate and the total out the door price is $29700.

I have been on TrueCar and KBB and while I don't think we are "stealing it" I am very satisfied with the price, the trade-in and the payment($495/month) am I missing anything?

Also can anybody explain about the difference between the 430n and the 730n? Does one just have the bluetooth and uconnect and one doesn't?

Hmmm...... You need to drive that first.
A 2011 auto has 3.73 make sure you are happy.

Where are you located? Getting a 2012 under invoice is pretty standard.

kndindsey 09-12-2011 04:10 PM

we have driven them before and are happy with it. We aren't interested in the 2012. southeastern Michigan.

If you're happy with the deal, then go get it! Make sure you post some pictures for us. I guarantee that no matter what price you pay for it, someone will post that they paid less for the same thing. It's the nature if the internet.

panthermark 09-12-2011 04:25 PM

If you are happy with it...that is all that counts!

You can get better price on a different year....but I also see that you are getting 0% financing...and that can play a big part in the total cost.

Does it have Connectivity Group?

kndindsey 09-12-2011 05:35 PM

lol, that is what we keep telling each other. We could probably find it cheaper if we put a LOT of work into it but we don't really want to.

I will say that the looking at the Jeep site and then talking to dealers is very confusing when it comes to the add-ons. I wondered about connectivity myself. it does have the leather wrapped steering wheel and the chrome/leather shift knob, it does NOT have the uconnect and bluetooth. but after researching and talking to the dealer I am okay with that.

The way I understand it the only thing I am missing is the voice activation and that never works right on anything anyways. I don't have an ipod and if I want to listen to music I will have Sirius. It does have the Sirius Travel link. Very frustrating that it has parts of some groups but not all, makes it hard to price it and figure out exactly what you are getting.

I have a black 2011 sahars 6 speed with black cloth interior and a soft top it cost me 33000 out the door....then I went and added 2.5" suspension lift and wheels and tires...this is what you have to look foward to....GO GET IT!!!!!!!

I think that price is high. I bought my '12 Rubicon Unlimited a month ago for $33,700. I'm sure you can get the same deal as I did, PM me for any more info.

The Rubcon comes with lockers and sway disconnects, better than the anti-spin. The stock radio includes Sirius. Tires on the Rubi are arguably better, and MT, although Sahara are better highway tires. Rubi has nice interior electrics, heated mirrows, steering wheel audio.

Freedon top, better motor and 5 speed auto. Tow package and remote start. You have leather, that is nice. '12s have abut 90+ hp, and an improved transmission.

Both are nice vehicles, I think $32K is fair for the '11 Sahara, $33.7 for the '12 Rubicon.

If you want the '11 Sahara, use my #'s on the '12 to get him to come down. Best of luck, you'll ne happy with either.

Are you eligible for an Affiliate discount either through your work or an organization such as Tread Lightly? If so, you can get 1%-2% under invoice. If you don't qualify for it, you can still offer invoice or a little lower and get it on a 2011. Even for some dealers with 2012s.

You are also eligible for a $1,000 factory rebate or 0% interest on 2011 Wranglers

You mentioned the $500 military rebate.

Also, you may have gotten a mailing from Jeep offering you more bonus cash/loyalty cash of $750 dollars for existing Jeep owners. Pretty sure this also is for 2011 only. You probably threw it into the trash like I did :) But no worries, as the dealer can lookup by name and zip code whether you are eligible or not. This is called a Targeted Direct Mailing(TDM) rebate.

Pulled the trigger on a 2011 today with all of the above. Price went from an msrp of $32,500 to $25K and some change

Why? Better and more efficient engine and transmission, better gas mileage...

As stated youbcan get 1 or 2 % below invoice (find out what the 2011 invoice price is) on 2011 or 2012 and then add in the military and any other discounts ($1k on 2011 plus $750 owner loyalty plus $500 military). Take that $2250 off the invoice with 1% removed (invoice price minus % of novice price). That is the minimum I would expect to pay for last years model. You could also haggle for another 1% but that is only $200-300.

Get a2012 unless you feel that the less powerful and fuel efficient engine is worth the $1000 factory discount.

kndindsey 09-14-2011 06:55 PM

JEEPinTN, that is GORGEOUS! My husband wants to do the 2" lift and chrome wheels and bigger tires so I will be showing him the pics of yours for sure.

Not interested in the 2012 because I want the 0% financing and don't want to buy in the first year of a new engine.

Vyper340 09-14-2011 07:27 PM

It's not the first year engine. It's been out for more than a year in the Grand Cherokee and in a couple of other vehicles too.

JeepinTN 09-14-2011 07:29 PM

Well thank you. I was extremely happy when I got the lift and wheels and tires. I had to stand back for a second and ask if that was really my Jeep. Best of luck with getting one you will love it!
