New to Jeeps!!
I know I must sound completely stupid, but heres my story. I have a huge passion for 1971-72 Chevy Cheyennes. I had a 71 as my daily driver for 2 years and I have worked my butt off to pay for it. I always said, if ever have to drive a new vehicle, I don't know what it'd be! Unfortunately, my truck turned out to have been a chop-shopped, stolen vehicle and it was seized by the police and returned to the original owner. So I am now without a vehicle and I finally narrowed it down to what I'm looking to buy! I decided on a jeep wrangler because, hey thats about as rugged as it gets, (besides driving something 40 years old thats all original...in a way). So here I am looking to buy one off craigslist where I live and I have no clue as to where to start. I don't know the difference between tj or lj or cj? anyone wanna clue me in? and I've picked up on the 4.0L 6cyl, are some of the best daily drivers? Well I drive fairly far and I need something good in snow or ice...any suggestions? and thanks for welcoming newbies!!

Jeep YJ's (1987-1995) are good vehicles that are simple and easy to service. I'd recommend a '95 because of the galvanized tub and frame.

as far as the models check wikipedia. it's all pretty accurate.
everyone has a different opinion on which model is best. you need to figure that one out on your own. the forum is a great place to start.

If you want to have a simpler vehicle similar to your Cheyenne, I'd recommend a late 80s/early 90s. You can get the straight 6 and swap out the carb with a Motorcraft 2100. They are simple to keep on the road and I drive mine every day and have never had any problems with it. Can't go wrong though with the 4.0.
