Hello people, I for the life a me cannot find out what this little emissions part is
its made in Canada and the part number I think is 1846B ... it is supposed to have a hose on top that I think is a vacuum line, but it was broke.. it comes off the pcv and back into the carb... it doesnt show in any of my emission charts or lines photos... any clue?? need help here jeep keeps failing smog by such a small amount on the faster speed... dang calif standards!!

Looks kinda like an egr valve, but not 100% on that. I know my yj doesn't have one on it.

I was thinking the same thing, as my mustang has one. But I'm not as familiar with jeep motors as i am mustang motors so I can't be sure.

That is what it looks like to me.

Is that a 4.2?

Jolly Roger 87 09-24-2011 08:23 PM

yes 4.2 and no not an egr valve... it comes off the pcv valve and goes into the carb.. a hose that is not showing (where the screw is up top left of it) is actually a vacuum line. that is plugged at the moment.. I even went to the dealer and they dont know what it is... grandios isnt it?

If it's on the firewall side of the Carb it might be the accelerator pump. I busted mine tearing all that stuff out. If you're failing emissions check the tubes on the left side that hook back into the exhaust mine were rusted through. It works to put fresh air to the exhaust helps pass emissions.

Wow I was out of it last night I was way off sorry decellerator valve. It's only on manual transmission so it doesn't backfire when you put the clutch in.

I have the same part with the same lack of vacuum hookup:eek:

How should this thing be hooked up? Hoses go from where to where?

It should have 2 vacuum hook ups let me see where they go

Tang87 09-28-2011 07:39 AM

It goes to three places it goes to Carb for vacuum then Carb for fresh air and the valves for the fresh air into the exhaust the name escapes me. I broke mine trying to pull the vacuum and switched to motorcraft and got rid of it all.
