? 2012 wrangler unlimited 37" tires how much of a dog will it be without gear change?

I just got a 2012 jeep wrangler unlimited sport. I would like to add a 4" lift and 37"x12.5" Mickey Thompson tires on 17" f1 wheel. How much of a dog will it be if I wait a year to upgrade to the correct gear ratio. I currently have the upgrade 3.73:1 that comes with the tow package. I am aware of the exhaust clearance issue, but will be mod that as well so no concern there. I was hoping the increase in power the 3.6l has that I could get away with this. Your thought........

Why not wait until you can do it all at once? Do you NEED 37's right now? Besides, you can't re-gear 2012's at the moment....wait until AEV cracks it.

Manual or auto?

It has the 5 speed auto with manual mode.

I don't want to buy tires and wheels and then have to upgrade later. I have the 16" steel wheels and really ready to upgrade it.

37s on 3.73 are probably gonna suck even with the improved auto.

...yup, despite the 400 rear wheel horsepower the pentastar makes.

Itll be about as bad as my tj w/ 33s running 3.07s... :)

it all depends on your tolerance. But knowing most people your gona hate it.

So stick with the 35s and 3.25 lift less problems? Less cost

GoldenSahara00 09-30-2011 09:16 PM

yep, and thats actually almost your ideal gear for 35s. You'll be a little low on power but actually probably get slightly better mpgs. and 3.25 is plenty of lift for 35s, you may even want a little less to keep costs and repairs down.

Thanks everyone 35s it is
