Daystar and Teraflex lift comparison pictures

Took some photos of my neighbor's jeep and mine side by side this evening. Both jeeps have 33" Goodyear Duratracs. Those interested in what 33" tires on 15" and 16" wheels with either a 1" lift or a 2.5" lift can see what they look like. The hand shots are of the front and the fist shots are of the rear. Specs below

Silver 2010 JK
Daystar 3/4" spacer lift with 33x12.5R15

Tan 2011 JKU
Teraflex 2.5" coil spring lift with 305x70x16

My only input is that your also comparing stiffer springs on the rubi wich is a jku to a 2 dr if they were both two door or four door you would probally get a closer comparison .because i put a 1 3/4 daystar coil lift on my 2dr rubi and got two inches ,but they both look real nice and really like the rims on the jku

ESP 10-01-2011 06:56 PM

There is more weight on the JKU than the two door by far with the longer wheel base, hardtop, and front/rear bumpers. Still looks perfect IMO.

Nice comparison / They both look awesome. I am guessing the Daystar spacer is very similar to most spacer lifts. ( giving you 2" front and 1" rear ) most 2.5" coil lifts give you
3" front and 2"rear about 1" more all the way around...
The rubi likely has stiffer springs, but also has another 140lbs over the rear tires too..
I have AEV 2" coil lift and it lifted my Jeep 2" front and 1.25" rear, I parked next to a sahara today, but where we were parked I could not get a good photo, but you could tell I had a lift..

ESP 10-01-2011 07:45 PM

The rubi is sitting on TF 2.5" coils. It does not have stock springs. :thumb:

yeah, i am surprised by how much lift he has left after his bumpers...not bad at all.

Here is my brother-in-laws JK with 2.5 suspension lift and 35s next to a TJ. Not the best picture but you all are changing my mind on how good a JK can look. Still like me TJ for now.

.. on the rubi- are they mopar bumpers? I like the stubby look too..

The rubi has the modular steel bumper that is an option when purchasing. I can't think of the official name of it but dealerships put them on many jeeps in a "package" deal. They are very heavy duty from what I can tell and I do like how many different configurations you can get with them. The wings on both sides can be removed and end caps placed onto the openings as well as a bolt on for a winch and several other configs.

For the record. I like the stubby too!

Hi, thanks- I thought I seen a similar bumper on a new JKU last week.
If I stay with my spacer lift, I will very likely go with the stubby kit too and 33's...

The stubby kit is awesome and definitely worth $60. It's fun to put on too and you'll like the look of your Jeep a lot more. Now you just have to decide between the VDP or the Rough Country caps!

The thing I like so much about the pictures here is that it gives me a good idea what the same lift will look like on my Jeep. It will be a little higher without all the weight that the JKU has so I'm trying to decide it that might be a problem. The JKU looks perfect all around.

^ Hi, I like the stubby look too, also the pic. comparision you have which does help. His Jeep seems to be about 1" more all the way around..
The best part with the stubby kit, besides the price, here in my area I have not seen one jeep with it. After I end up with some 33's ( not decided on the rim size 16,17,18 x 9 ) then I will see if I will change to a full 2.5" lift or just add the 1.25" RC-Body lift

Hi, the great pictures my neighbor took of my rubi encouraged me to join the forum today :punk: The bumpers are Rugged Ridge XHD. Since the picture was taken, I took the end caps off and am running it as stubby. :thumb:

JK with 35s

Tanksta 10-09-2011 07:17 AM

Wow, check out the width of those Duratracs!(first pic)
Is it just me or are the 305/70/16's noticably wider than the 33/12.50/15's?

I may have just had a future decision made for me! :thumb:

Edit...
Great looking Jeeps! And thanks for the pictures!

P.S. just did the math...305 should be 32.8x12 inches, but i realize that tire size is measured at the widest part of the tire.

ESP, have you taken the Jeep offroad yet? I'm wondering how the Daystar kit would fare offroad.

Many times and it's given me no problems. The 33s however with only the 3/4 lift has.
