body lift.. help!

hi guys, im new at this so i need some help. i want to put in a 3 inch body lift for my wrangler 07. i was just wondering if anyone can give me a good brand, and also how much it could be to put in. thank you anything will help!

kjeeper10 10-04-2011 10:26 PM

No no no no....

Why?

There is no reason for a body lift.

Simple and cheap go 2" BB aka spacers :)

francob 10-04-2011 10:28 PM

but this wont make the jeep look bigger right? it just makes your tires wider?

Don't modify your jeep without understanding what's happening.

Go to Quadratec.com and sign up for their free catalog. Lots of nice pictures and so on so you can start educating yourself. Also look at the "JK Lift Reviews" thread at the top of this page. And don't forget you can search this forum to find threads and pics on almost any topic.

That said, if you have specific questions, fire away.

A body lift raises the tub from the frame via a spacer. You do NOT want to do a 3" body lift on anything, much less a JK. They have no effect on how wide your tire width, that would be creating rubber out of nothing, which is impossible. You may have been thinking of wheel spacers which add a spacer between the hub and the wheel and push the entire wheel out further, but you have no need to do that. What kind of look are you trying to go for, and what kind of off roading do you do if any?

francob 10-04-2011 10:45 PM

okay that you guys!

francob 10-04-2011 10:46 PM

thanks*** :)

InvertChaos 10-04-2011 10:47 PM

No problem. Definitely do some more research before jumping into anything. Find some pictures you would like to mimic, decide how practical it would be, and your price range and we will try to point you in the right direction.

I went with the 2.5" Teraflex Full suspension lift with shock extenders. It looks good and it will allow me to put on a set of 35" tires in the spring.

francob 10-04-2011 10:48 PM

i do some off roading nothing crazy tho, but the look im going for is big tires and make it higher

kjeeper10 10-04-2011 10:51 PM

What are you driving? (don't say 07 wrangler) pics?

MTH 10-04-2011 10:54 PM

Sounds like a good candidate for a budget boost or a leveling kit. 2.5" max though.

Bigger tires hit your gas mileage pretty hard and will make your jeep feel less powerful, especially with an auto transmission. There are things you can do to counteract this, but it gets expensive. Also, bigger tires will require new wheels or at least wheel spacers.

What's your budget?

XJ Knight 10-04-2011 10:55 PM

2.5in suspension lift and 34's or 35's and have at it.. Nothing wrong with having a bl but keep it to 1.25in and under.. You'll also need new rims with the right amount of back spacing to run the wider tire. If you plan to offroad it be a good idea to also look into a good cb set up and armor. Also since your new a big rule in offroading, please please please never wheel alone..

Since this is the topic..I too have an 07 (least I think that's what he said) and I want a lift, do u.guys actually suggest a budget boost? They can with stand some off-roading and no problems?

francob 10-04-2011 10:59 PM

XJ Knight 10-04-2011 11:12 PM

Nothing wrong with some spacers and new shocks (budget boost) but is it better then a new coils and shocks (suspension lift).. It is not. However there is nothing wrong with running a budget boost on road or off.

But since I have the money should I just do the suspension lift?
