HELP! Tie rod issues

I'm trying to adjust the toe-in and it appears it has not been adjusted in so long they are seized up. I've sprayed them, tapped them with the hammer...wont budge. And no, I didn't hit any threads. And on another note, no dealers in town have the adjustable cam bolts in stock. And on another note, I got a bad case of DW going 55 and the right tire hit a small bump and away we went.

Try using a pipe wrench... and penetrating oil.

and perhaps it will help if you make it a bit hot blow dryer or carfully with a bunsen burner.

I did. I put a lot into it and still wouldn't budge. I didn't really think it would, but I was concerned the link would break if I stepped on the pipe wrench and put my weight into it. I guess I'll DW my way to work tomorrow and hopefully the local 4x4 shop will be open. Make me even more broke.:D

I did take a small butane torch to it. No luck.

mine where so bad we had to use blow torch. Good news is they are cheap to replace.

Might be worth just popping your tie rod off and putting it in a vice to break them loose.

Torch, an alignment hook and a 2 foot breaker bar usually works.

Whew, finally! I picked up some penetrating fluid yesterday on the way home from work. Sprayed it good last night. Put a little extra ass into it today and it finally gave. Did 2 full turns of the tie rod and now it drive so much better. Tried to cause DW but it wouldn't do it.
Now, you guys who have messed with lower control arms tell me this. On the factory lca's the bolts are 15 3/4" center to center. I'm looking at picking up a pair of Superflex fixed lowers that are 16". Pushes the bottom of the axle 1/4" forward. Will I benefit here? That and the adjustable track bar will hopefully have my front end like I want it for the time being. Thanks

Good question. I'd like to know the same thing.
