advice re: dual top group

I was set on getting dual top but am seeing models i could live with that have hard top only. I have heard the soft top is a Besttop. Is the original soft top better, worse, same as what you can get from best top aftermarket?

From what I've experienced with my TJ, you're still getting OEM quality if you go with Bestop because they have actually made all the OEM tops since the late '90s, but the OEM bracketry and door surrounds are more robust than what they sell in the aftermarket. That's why their stuff bought through the dealership/Mopar stores costs more, not to mention the markup. Given the option, I would get the dual top group in a heartbeat over Bestop aftermarket, but only if you want an OEM style top. If you want a bikini or trektop, then go through Bestop.

I bought a like new OEM soft top on Craigslist for $500. First OEM top that I've owned and love it. BestTop does make OEM but like mentioned above-stock is better IMO.

This is good advice. Also look at the Trektop style of soft top and make sure you wouldn't prefer that kind.

I got dual top on my JKU and I'm quite pleased with the new sun rider, it is much easier to work with than previous iterations. The Trektop still looks better, I like how it follows close to the sport bars behind the rear seat.

YMMV.

I live in a moderate climate area so I got the dual top group. Having taken advantage of all of the different configurations (Freedom Top and Soft Top Sunrider etc.) I am glad I have the dual top group. Each configuration has it's own unique purpose and fits whatever my plans and the weather for the day might be.

Unless you live in a harsh or rainy climate, you may regret not getting the Dual Top Group.

Also, keep in mind that the DTG is covered by the OEM warranty while an aftermarket soft top is not.
