Hey guys and gals, need some help or direction for those who might know where to point me...

I have a 4 dr JK (2007) with a soft top, have had it for about 2 months. It sits outside all the time since I have no garage and has been through it's fair share of rain with no problems. However, it was POURING all weekend long where i live (tampa) and i noticed after about 2 days of rain I started to get a slow leak at the top of the front doors, over the door handles.

I have googled this and it sounds like it might be normal? Is there a way to stop it? More importantly, is there a CHEAP way to stop it?? lol I've looked online and found the cab cover (MOPAR 82210323 - MOPAR® Jeep® Logo Cab Cover for 07-12 Jeep®® Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door - Quadratec) but don't really feel like spending $160 plus the inconvenience of not being able to just quickly jump in the car when it's raining. Are there any other quick fixes that might be easier to manage??

There is a door adjustment you have to make.

Somebody will give you instructions on what to do. It involves loosing the top hinge bolts and lifting the door up a small amount.

That should fix the problem.

:D I don't know kj, that works for hardtops (sometimes), but I've never heard ofit on a softtop

Why don't you getta tarp for the time being ???

Treat the softtop mat'll with waterproof spray--I have no idea what it is --I ain't got one !

Hey PittJeep,

Honestly, if it rained that hard for that long and all you got was a slow leak, I would leave well enough alone. Odds are that if you start trying to seal, adjust, whatever that you might introduce a leak somewhere else or make the slight one you have now worse.

Probably the easiest and safest thing to do is look for pinholes in the top near the leak areas. Get your Wrangler out in the sunshine. Get inside and look up over the door frames. If there are pinholes, you will see the brightness showing through the pinholes.

If you see pinholes, here is the fix:

Get some clear marine grade silicone caulk. You do not need much. Put a bit on the head of a straight pin and then put one dab on the pinhole, both inside and out. Use no more than you need to just cover the pinhole, especially on the outside. On the inside, give the caulk a a couple of rotations with the pad of your finger. That should do it.

Did a little more digging, and this appears to be a consolidated list of the major leak issues and potential fixes... hope it helps for anyone else who might need it. I'll give my fix a try this week and see if it works!

Thanks Celtic, that sounds like some good advice... is the caulk something you can get at like a target/walmart type store?

Go to a boating supply store. You should have lots of them in Tampa. They should have what you need.

The top of the door mates with the door surround instead of the hardtop. I would imagine there is no difference.

My 07's doors have been adjusted. I can see exposed white on the underside of the top hinges which leads me to believe the op or dealer made the adjustment.

And guess what??

I need to have that done to my 07. Is is easy to do myself or do I need to take it in?
