What are some easy TJ mods to start?
Wonder what are some cheap and simple mods for TJ, already got the 2" suspension lift, american racing rims, and 33"x12.50" tires on it, Windshield lights, Custom Front bumper, Interior is pretty much stock, lookin to do something about that, and fender flares, i want to order some, however i dont want flares that require you to chop off the whole fender, just ones that bolt in like the stock ones, any suggestions? Body Armor suggestions? and was also wondering if anyone knew if the LED dash install is a pain in the ass or can a half stupid person do it.... Let me know of any ideas please!

THANKS! :thumb:

sounds like your well on your way. id start with under armour.... skids expecially oil pan and steering box

Irongrave 10-20-2011 09:17 PM

skids are a good place.

for the flairs just trim them its free.

jlandroche 10-20-2011 09:20 PM

How much does a decent skid plate run me for?

Irongrave 10-20-2011 09:23 PM

the steering skids are not bad under $150. a good belly pan will be a good chunk of change though.

if your running 33s I would also get a steering box brace.

dont forget to add a hummer recovery team sticker!

Light mod

I got a part time job, im a college student, I just wanna start building this 4 cylinder monster up haha, so anything i can do cheap is good, the skid you suggested around $150, completely do-able for me, anything crazy like $500 and up, is getting a little rough, But like i said, i bought it with whats slapped on now, which i think is where the most cash is spent

u have a great start, some bed liner can make things nice cheaply if u put the time in. doing the tub, flairs, mirrors, headlight, bezels, grill ect check out the cheap easy creative mods thread its great!

Forgot to mention the flo master exhaust haha, im gonna paint my Diffs and coil springs this weekend, a nice obnoxious color that screams "Look at my Huge Jeep" Might paint the stock skid plate too, it looks nice when they have a fresh coat on em, gonna have to see what that bed liner looks like, i have more then enough time

Oil pans are usually the first to go. Do what u can to preserve what ya have. "cheap easy mods" thread is definitely a great spot to go. I've done some mods that came from there. Good luck!

The LED dash light mod is VERY easy. I did my dash, hvac and Locker/defroster/rear window washer swith lights as well. The whole mod only took me about 30 min. Follow the link in post #7 on how to do it and where to get the LEDs.

Cheap easy creative thread. Packed with ideas. I put a couple mods on there myself. Including an all red led conversion. Dome courtesy HVAC gauge cluster. My jeep looks like a helicopter cockpit.

forget about the stupid LED Lights and other non-sense... If you knew what was up a SLIP YOKE ELIMINATOR is the best mod for the $..

End thread. lol

KidRock171 10-21-2011 04:00 AM

I object.
You can never have too many lights.

I love the LED Mod idea, I just have to decide on a color then I'm going to do it.
Some nice seat covers will start to change the look of the inside, the bed liner on the tub will not only change the look but its useful as well.
undercoating the frame/tub if you are near salt is never a bad idea.
With all the mods, don't forget Jeeps need the suspension lubed every 3000 miles.

Or after mudding or driving through deep water. Grease is cheaper than new parts :thumb:

jlandroche 10-21-2011 11:01 AM

Alright so keep grease on hand in the garage after a wheelin session, gotcha !

bought some bedliner today, saw some pics of it, it looks real sharp on the fenders, mirriors, door handles, might do an undercoat too, its tough stuff

golden-eagle 10-21-2011 11:31 AM

Yeap me too, and i think the bedliner i bought you can use if you like it too, i think theres more then enough

UnlimitedLJ04 10-21-2011 11:49 AM

bumpstops to actually fit those tires would be a good thing to look too, less than $20.
