lining my jeep

I know this comes up alot, but I was wondering has anyone ever lined their tub and put the carpet back in, you know for looks , sound insulation, etc.

rebelBullDawg325 09-27-2007 03:54 PM

i'm gettin my lined in the next week or so, but i doubt i'll be putting the carpet back in.

Putting the carpet back in basically defeats the purpose of the liner (my opinion). I love being able to just hose the Jeep out when needed. :D

if you hose it out, do you flip it to get the water out?
:zap:

i cannot get all the dirt mud dust out of my jeep after it was lined..any tips

lilredjeep95 09-30-2007 07:45 PM

my is hurculined and i left the drain plugs out, and it does cut down noise.

rebelBullDawg325 09-30-2007 08:09 PM

you probably just have to rub some of the mud and junk out with your hand while running the hose pipe over it. just to get it to let go. i agree about the carpet. with it in its harder to clean.

"if you hose it out, do you flip it to get the water out?"
no, i generally take a blow dryer or air compressor to it ;)

I checked on Line-x in my area..too much $$$$$

Is there a "do it yourself" coating that I could put on and feel like it was "semi" professional?

daddyjeep 10-01-2007 11:37 AM

Herculiner. You can pick it up at Walmart or the parts store for $100.

gammy 10-01-2007 11:58 AM

So, have you or anyone used the product?
1) is it good for sound deterrent
2) is it good for rain/rust prevention
3) would 1-gallon do it? (mainly would do the wheel wells and down..i.e. wherever carpet is now.

tks in advance!

rebelBullDawg325 10-01-2007 02:26 PM

i've heard more people say bad things about herculiner (and other do it yourself products) than i've heard good. not just on forums, but people i actually know. yea, line-x is pretty expensive. i've been savin up for a while and i'm just about ready to get it done

I just did my Floor pans (driver and passenger side)..with 2 coats of Por-15 (due to some rust and I wanted to be "preventive".

Why couldn't I use something like that to do an entire vehicle...then put something like a HUSKY LINER or something down?

I am not sure it would help (like carpet) with road noise>
rebelBullDawg325 (you must be from Mississippi...I am a USM'er).

^^^ USM, go Golden Eagles.
I live in Ga now but I am from Laurel - Ellisville, both of my parents graduated USM.
Sorry for the hijack.

rebelBullDawg325 10-02-2007 03:36 PM

i've not got any expeirence with por15. if it dries hard i dont see why it would be a problem.

side note. i'm from GA. home of the university of Georgia, you know the real bulldogs:)

gammy 10-02-2007 04:05 PM

So, if you breed a BullDog and a Shitzu...what do you get?
