I'm about to embark on a 1200 mile trip from NC to TX back to Fort Hood. Wish me luck. The jeep is new to me and I haven't had any trouble with her except some minor things. This'll put her reliability to the test.

I just got back from a 2400 mile round trip to Colorado. My jeep did great, other than the 12.6mpg average. Drive safe on your trip.

Ya, I thought I would do a little better on the fuel ecomony. It was the 75mph speed limit that killed my mileage, In town I seem to get about 14-15mpg.

Oh ya, I also figured out the hard way I could go exactly 193mile on a full tank of fuel(over a pass). Luckily I ran out .8miles from an exit with a gas station.

Well I made it back to Fort Hood fine. Drove 12 hrs yesterday and 8 hrs today. Here are some stats:
Average mpg was 13, not too bad considering i was going 70 mph half the time. The legs that i was going 70 mph were esp bad. I was getting only about 11 mpg. Weird thing was when i was going through the mountains of NC and TN, averaging 55mph, i was getting the best mpg at 13-15 range. Gas prices averaged about 3.29. Arkansas was especially high up in the $3.49 range. Spent a total of $307.03 on gas which is better than what I had predicted (thought it was gonna be over 400). And drove a total of 1224 miles.
I actually got 205 miles out of one tank in TN. That's cuz I didn't see a gas station for about 20 miles. I was worried there for a bit. Luckily I didn't have to experience what you did Tokkie.
Now time to get my tires rotated and oil changed.

Congrats on your successful journey. In my jeep a trip that far in 2 days would have beat me to death.
