All The different lifts/kits
Will someone please explain to me what all of the different lifts are and what they do? I hope im not the only one who doesnt know.
2. Body Lift
3. Motor Mount Lift
4. Leveling Kit
5. Anything else i missed??? :hide:
In order for you to understand and not just take my word for it, here's the quick and dirty--you've got 3 "levels"--axles, frame, tub. Your axles are constrained and located to the frame by the suspension. Your frame is held up over the axles by coil springs. Your tub is bolted to the frame at the 11 body mounts.
Suspension lift = taller springs (or pucks that go above the OEM springs) to raise the frame further away from the axles
Body lift = taller body mounts (or pucks that sit on top of the OEM body mounts) that position the tub further away from the frame.
MML= Replacement motor mounts or spacers that go under the OEM mounts that raise the engine up. In order to understand why this is beneficial, you've got to have a better understanding of how this all works and you'll need to be able to visualize it.
Leveling kit= just a gimmicky marketing term for pucks that go above the coil springs. These are the same pucks used in "budget boosts."
Just get under your Jeep and look at things. It's not rocket science. It'll make sense if you just look at it.
1. lifts your suspension so you have more travel in it.
2. lifts the body only up off the frame.
3. moves the motor mounts up so the motor is actually raised.
4. lifts the front a little more than the rear to eliminate the factory rake.
