Pro-comp Xtreme M/T ...

Does anybody have any experience with this tire in Snow / Ice? I am looking at getting a set of these since they are Buy 3 Get 1 Free sale at Pro-comp. the MFG says that they provide "Maximum Traction" but what company says "these tires suck on ice / snow?" lol

Yup... may be a little better. Those are at least siped.

WRONG! Same tread as Mickey MTZ, Toyo M/T & Cooper STT. BFG has solid lugs.

RIPbiker13 has these tires but no snow for him.

EnigmaMan 10-04-2007 02:22 PM

ah I was hoping to get some reviews on some ICE / Snow performance.

Should I have Discount tire "Sipe" these tires? Or do you think thats a bad idea and would cause chunking etc off road?

Just trying to maximize my all around performance, I figured they might hold up better on our light jeeps @ 4,000lbs rather than the Diesel 6500lb tank.

AzTJ 10-04-2007 03:50 PM

No - they come with factory siping that is perfectly fine. If your not a serious offroader and regularly keep them rotated, I wouldn't be surprised to see more than 40K out of them.

blueJeeps 10-04-2007 03:56 PM

Don't know about those but I have run the Pro Comp MTs in the ice snow mix we get here, they did fine. Sure worked better than the treads I have now.

Mike001 10-04-2007 11:35 PM

Dude just get the the new BFG MT KM 2s. They're bada** tires basically a radial version of the KX's(Krawlers)

EnigmaMan 10-04-2007 11:42 PM

Those tires look like they would be very crappy in the snow / ice, not to mention hydroplaning. There is no siping at all.

AzTJ 10-04-2007 11:52 PM

Go with the X-Treme M/T's. I think you'd be happy. The KM2 is really a more hard core off-road tire with extra stiffness everywhere and those huge lugs.

mrbigjeep 10-05-2007 10:24 AM

the sizes of the new BFG suck.

EnigmaMan 10-05-2007 01:15 PM

lol whats new, all BFG's suck :punk:

the kx krawler is a radial
the km2 is a watered down version of the krawler

I have these as well, but, no snow ot ice for me either! Great tire though. :punk:

EnigmaMan 10-06-2007 07:24 PM

man, hopefully somebody has had these tires in the snow / ice before?? I cant really find any reviews on how they do in the snow / ice.

orange05tj 10-06-2007 09:30 PM

I run pro comp mt and love em. no probs in any weather. Ran them all last winter, few good snow storms and no probs. I run the highway all year and been in a few storms with the mt's and felt better then stock tires. Really no sliding or drifting, but that was at around 45 mph in 3-4" of snow.

RIPBiker13 10-06-2007 09:35 PM

I don't have experience with them in the snow, but in the rocks, mud, dirt, deep water, and the road they are awesome! I
I'll buy these again when I wear mine out.

Hey Rip, do you have a good straight on side shot of your jeep with these wheels and tires on it?? I have looked for one and can't find any. I wanna photoshop them in on mine and you have the exact combo that I want!! Thanks

4bangertj 10-07-2007 08:28 AM

i had the destination m/ts on my old cherokee before i traded it off and in the mud, snow, sand, clay, ice, whatever they did awesome, had little road noise, and wore great! thats what im goin to get for my wrangler whenever i can afford it!

EnigmaMan 10-07-2007 05:06 PM

nice that helps me out in my tire decision! Glad to hear that they did well for you.

BTW, I think these are some photos that you are looking for.. I found these a few nights ago showing these tires in action.

MoA 10-07-2007 08:27 PM

what size tires are you running rip? 31s?

mrbigjeep 10-07-2007 08:30 PM

lol those are 33's

MoA 10-08-2007 10:13 AM

they dont look like it =X.. ive seen jeeps with 33s under a 4'' lift and seems like he has a lot more room between his tire and fenders

acopsy88 10-31-2007 11:47 PM

Just ordered 33s pro comp xtreme mt this thread made me choose them over the x terrains 600 for 4. buy 3 get 1 free got to wait a week 2 two. The sales man i talked to said these are exactly like toyo mud country and cant go wrong with toyo. Best decision i have made getting rid of my thorn turds. It took me 1 bad rain storm to say enoughs enough and crappy performance in mud:( deffinitely look in to tires before buying im just glad i didnt buy them new

jherrin215 11-01-2007 05:26 AM

I ordered some 35 xtreme MT's yesterday as well. I just about called back and changed it to the xterrain's for only 20 bucks more, but decided to stay with the MT's.

EnigmaMan 11-01-2007 03:23 PM

Sweet! Ya ive had these tires on for a few weeks and got 6" of snow here in Denver about 2 weeks ago. Since I got them siped the traction is Awesome in the snow / ice!

alleyn59 11-01-2007 11:04 PM

I know the xterrains wear out in only 20-25K miles... I'd be curious to know, how long these new tires will last.

acopsy88 11-03-2007 02:00 AM

yeah i agree i hope to get 20000 out of mine i dont put many miles on my jeep

RIPBiker13 11-03-2007 02:21 AM

I've had mine for 5k now, no visible wear yet. I still love them!
