Bored Throttle Body Issues

Iv'e had a bored out throttle body on my TJ for a long time. It used to never make any noise but recently it (or at least I think its the TB) is making a very high pitched squealing noise when the gas pedal is pressed about half way. If I punch it, it squeals quickly then goes away but then I'll let off and when the pedal is halfway again it squeals. I cleaned the hell out of it in hopes to fix it but to no avail. It's actually getting louder, especially with the new Volant cold air I just installed. What's going on?!?

pretty common for incorrectly bored geometry on throttle bodies, cold air intakes and throttle body spacers. IIRC, its caused by turbulence around one specific lip of one of the sensor ports.

Give the Cold Air Intake FAQ a read.

IIRC? Can this issue be fixed...cheaply?

I have the Brute Force intake w/ TB spacer, and it too whines (whisltes) when I accelerate. Search the posts for this topic. You will get many responses, both in favor of and against a CAI.

Since it's progressively getting worse, I'd bet the plate is wearing into the venturi portion. Steel plate, aluminum throat.

Take it off, use a file to dress the plate's edges sharp again, and carefully remove the burrs on the throat.

Before installing, make sure the stop screw is set so the plate closes but does not actually touch the throat - close, but not touching. It was probably adjusted touching before, causing it to wear.
