Got bored.. Inspired by others... Painted wheels

Web had the stock rims just laying around so the misses and I decided to try painting her rims like this guy did.

I personally would have never done it if she hadn't taken the time to tape them off.

The spare,

Dragonscape 11-14-2011 11:05 PM

Good matching, gives it a whole new look

Raziel 11-14-2011 11:32 PM

That looks great!!! Now you got me thinking of doing mine! You clear coat them as well?

I've seen the pics of people doing the rhino liner on the rims. I don't like how it looks due to the stock rim looks. Just doesn't look right.

But painting the area isn't a bad idea. Does look great with the silver contrast

Chigger 11-15-2011 07:17 AM

Pretty cool.

terminator012 11-15-2011 07:53 AM

Thanks folks, it was a fun project to do.

I did put 2 coats of clear coat on them. I sprayed a little area on the back side of the spare that came with my TJ to see how it was going to do. Gently tried to scratch the area and it seemed to be pretty durable, not real easy to scratch.

I like those blue lug nuts. I haven't seen them around here. Do you have a link in case google comes up empty??

I just used Google and found plenty of them. There are even many on Ebay. I dont think you will have a problem finding them. If you have a local speed shop you may want to try there also.

Great look. Nice job!!!

panthermark 11-15-2011 09:23 AM

Looks good!
As I was scrolling down, I thought you had painted the entire wheel blue for a second.....

terminator012 11-15-2011 09:50 AM

I am glad you scrolled on down. I do not like the all blue look. Taping them up that way gives you an idea of what they would look like, kinda sucks.

petetlr 11-15-2011 05:54 PM

they look great

Smshly616 11-15-2011 06:29 PM

Those look really good! Nice job!

ljrubitm 11-15-2011 09:02 PM

Alright, I'm sold on this. Seeing 2 JKs like this realy helps. When & if I can locate the paint it will be done. ( Natural Green Pearl )

Where did you locate the spray paint? And what brand?

Raziel 11-15-2011 10:14 PM

You can always just paint the stock lugs blue if you want them blue!!!

LitleMs 11-15-2011 10:34 PM

I LOVE the color of her jeep! There is one this color that runs around here and it was love at first sight for me. Since they don't make it anymore, I went with the Deep Cherry Red. The Cosmos Blue is nice but I'm a sucker for metalic paint.

What is the actual color name for this jeep? Either it's as elusive as the Sahara Tan or they just didn't sell many in my area. Probably a good thing for me though....seeing these all over the place would give me a serious case of color envy. lol
