I am looking to replace the soft top on my 2000 Wrangler. The one it is pretty scratched up and the back zipper doesn't work. I have seen a big range in price between various aftermarket soft top replacement skins. Is there any real difference between them, or will I be fine with the $300 one that includes the upper door skins?
I have been looking into the sailcloth from Best Top. Is it true that after 2003 they stock Jeep soft tops are actually sailcloth? Is there that much of an actual difference? The advertisement states that is is better insulated then the hard top, and I live in Alaska and it's already getting pretty cold so that definately appeals to me, but is it just hype?
Also, what is the Best Top Supertop? I have seen it on every Jeep parts website I have came across, but the only description I get is that it is "The Bestop® Supertop® soft top has become the standard against which all other soft tops are measured, offering the highest quality in function, fit, and looks." What exactly is so different and better about it?

If it were mine and I already had all the stock hardware I'd go with the sail cloth replace a top.

x2. Have the Sailcloth and very impressed with it. Can't tell you much about insulation being in TX, but it's definitely MUCH more quiet. Seems much thicker and more HD than the regular stock crap.

i would get the sailcloth one as well, if you're worried about insulation you can stitch a blanket to the underside or just tuck one in over the roll bars, keep in mind if you stitch the blanket in it will not really fold into the back, but rather take up about three feet vertically

I guess I'll be the one voice of dissent here...we have one and it didn't seem to make any difference at all. I will say, however, that it is made of much better material and therefor I am not concerned about it wearing out as fast.
