Skyjacker hydro 7000

I have these on my jeep from a previous owner.

I have been investigating rattles that not just 'a jeep thing' lol.

In my investigations i found that the bottom of these shocks are loose. Its almost like there shoud be a bushing in there to hold it tight?

Any advice?

there should be bushings on the top and bottom of all the shocks, they are a great shock and fairly cheap if you want to just replace them, not sure if you can buy the bushings alone (im sure you can somewhere)

heres what they should look like (no stickers on them yet)

BTW they come with the bushings out and you have to put them in so maybe the PO couldnt figure out how? altho its very easy just get them wet with soapy water and press them in by hand

upon further investigation, the bushings are on there, looks like they are just wore out. The shock is just moving freely on the shaft of the jeep.

they are a fairly cheap (but good) shock, might want to just replace the shock, they are about $40 each and easy to change (as long as your PO didnt weld them in place like mine was kind enough to do lol!

How long or how many miles are these shocks good for, anyway?

If I choose to replace them, should i stick with those, do they still make them? Is there a better uprade at a good price?

i just put mine on a few months ago, a few members here have claimed 5+ years on the shocks and still running strong

I had the same issue, the urethane bushings had broken up and fallen out. I replaced mine and love them. I got mine from 4wd.com.
