want Willys look on 06 Rubicon
i'm more NOOB than your average noob to this so apologies for lack of knowledge
i just bought a 2006 Rubicon in jeepgreenmetallic ,
i love the look of the wheels on the 04/05 Willys edition:
i don't know what my current (stock) wheel size is but i *think* a rubi is about 1" larger diameter than a non-rubi for same-year? so i'm not looking for the exact wheels off a Willys for that reason -- i don't want to go down to a smaller size wheel.
not sure if i need/care to go up in size from stock but might want to,
i may just want to buy 5 new wheels that are the same size i already have,
mainly just want the look similar to those Willys (or original 1941-era) wheels.
but every wheel place i shop all the offer is pimped-up looking stuff and it costs a small fortune. i simply want simple-looking wheels,
and i intend to get 'em all painted to match the body color.
not a cheapskate, just not trying to buy something fancy with a matching fancy price; just want simple and a moderate price.
new or used is fine but so far not had any luck looking at used, often only 4 are available and i need 5 matching.
any advice highly appreciated! :)
it's weird i haven't anywhere at all (yet) seen any example of that wheel used on the willys edition; not that i want one - i don't - unless it came in the same diameter and width as my stock rubi wheels; i was just curious what was that wheel, there's no other examples i've found.
from another thread, it sounds like the dims of the willys wheel were
and from same thread, sounds like my stock 2006 rubi wheels are
* 16x8 and named Moab
i've thought about having existing wheels painted jeepgreenmetallic but don't think this particular wheel would look right like that.
i think the cragar soft8's have close enough look to me, just something "old school" looking not modern kind of wheels, and then i'll get 'em painted jeepgreenmetallic.
that's where i'm thinking at this point, stop me if i'm heading the wrong way :)
Those are 15x7 steel wheels. Came on most Cherokees and a lot if wranglers. I see sets on craigslist for 50 bucks all the time.
Here are a few that may be what you are looking for, you may need to paint them though:
Cragar Rally 344 Series
Cragar Delux 69 Series
Cragar Vegas 323 Series
Thank you MC! that 2nd one is looking pretty good to me, i'm gonna search to see what it costs.
i found some cragars that are really inexpensive and close to the look i want, so far reviews are favorable despite the low cost.
and yep anything i get i'm planning to have painted jeepgreenmetallic, so it doesn't matter what color they come originally.
all my tires are LT245/75R16
anyone lemme know if you see any functional issues with what i'm considering,
this is just a daily driver not offroading or rock crawling, but maybe some rural driving so may be some heavy mud and sometimes snow sometimes.
