Command-Trac Part Time 4WD System????

I received my Build Sheet today for my Jeep. It's nice it list everything. I do have a question.
It list that my Jeep has Dana 30/186MM Front Axle and 3.07 Rear Axle Ratio 175MM Rear Axle. Both front & rear axle are Dana the rear axle is 3.07, what would the front axle Ratio be? All it says is Dana 30.

It also says that it came with "Command-Trac Part Time 4WD System".
Can someone explain the Command-Trac Part Time 4WD System?
Is it called Part time cause your able to shift it from 2wd to 4wd drive? Just guessing here! I did notice when I put in 4wd a lite on the dash light up show "Part Time". I would think that once you have shifted it in to 4wd it would say 4wd...Kind of lost with the term "Part Time".

The old days, jump out lock both of your hubs, hop back in grab the small level in the floor shift it to 4wd high/low and go! It was so simple back then that even a Caveman would understand...:D

your rear gears will match the front, and you are correct as to why they call it part time

it is even more simple now, you no longer have to get out and lock the front hubs :thumb:
