The first thing we did was rip out the carpet and take off the tube step sides, the plastic armor, the front jugs, and remove the rear hitch.

Installed the Metal Cloaks. Took two of us 30 beers and two nights after work in my driveway. Install was very easy. My only gripe about the fenders is that the arched tube rubs my hood a tiny bit when closing it. Also took off the rear fender flares

Nice pickup. I'm buying my first (owned all by myself) TJ sometime soon and I'm still in college. Once I get out I plan on putting a lot of work into it.

Is it now your DD?

Did u have a hard time removing hinges??
I'm planning on replacing my doors and windshield hinges getting parts in coupla days what's the best way if they're stuck or won't budge I don't want to strip or have them break off inside thanks
Nice rubi I had a 2003 inca gold
Now I got a black TJ 4.0 stick
Rubi was tboned they repaired it but it was nvr the same so I sold it

Thanks. I have a national grid company pick up which is my dd. The four door Titan is used for towing my boat and rhino the jeep is just for four wheeling and nice days.

I did not have to remove my window or door hinges but if I were you I would start spraying them daily with PB blaster if you have any doubts. Also make sure you use the correct size socket right off the bat.

Over the weekend i found time to finished the front bumper and installed the winch. The winch was a breeze to install and very self explanatory. The bumper took around 8 hours for my buddy and me to build. We first took some plastic board and mocked up what we wanted it to look like then we cut up, welded and grinded the metal smooth. Overall it came out great. Sooner than later im going to get a small bar bent up to go over the winch.

Sorry for the crappy final picture when we got done with mounting it it was dark out then we went wheeling. But when i thought about it i am only home when its light out on the weekends so i rinsed it off and took a picture in the dark anyway. Ill post a better picture this weekend from a futher distance.

Oh i also have to lower the fairlead mount a bit right now i have it centerd with the spool but i think it should be lowered becuase the cable spools off the bottom.

Rock krawler called a little bit ago......MY LIFT IS IN. Im going to pick it up on my way home from work tomorrow. So over the weekend ill rip my rear axel off and bring it over to rock krawler to weld the cradle on. I can weld i just dont feel comfrontable welding on my axels or frame. Then I just need to find time to install the lift.

Black magic and centric rotors or vanco brakes

Do the locker mod.

knnphillips 12-03-2011 10:50 PM

Why don't you tummy tuck before ordering your rear driveshaft all your missing is the skid plate. Already got SYE BL and Control Arms.

Rubicon don't need SYE's. They have a flang output.

I said Already has SYE BL and control arms. All his missing is the skid plate. An since his planning on ordering a new driveshaft it'll prevent him from ordering another one down the road when he decides to tummy tuck.

I think he was just referring to the rubi stock output being an sye equivalent.

BattyBlueCB 12-05-2011 05:08 AM

The rk kit comes with a skid plate. It even increases your clearance a bit.

BattyBlueCB 12-05-2011 05:09 AM

Yeah you can see it up against the wall in the picture on the right

As a fellow Rubicon owner I'm curious to see how you like your new set up. A couple or friends of mine run the RK long arm kit and it works awesome on both of their Jeeps. Good luck with your build! That front bumper came out really nice by the way! :thumb:

BattyBlueCB 12-08-2011 08:32 PM

Thanks! I started installing the kit today after work hopefully I'll have it done by mid next week.

Nice rubi and nice build, should be a badass rig when you're all done with it. I had a similar situation, had a jeep in college, sold it, missed it, and just bought an 06 rubi this past weekend...only i was lucky and only had to wait 2 years after graduation :D Cant wait to see the progress, keep us updated

BattyBlueCB 12-14-2011 08:11 PM

Thanks. Yeah I tried to fill the void with some other toys but it just wasn't the same.

BackCountryMud 12-14-2011 09:08 PM
