sug. for leaf springs
 
howdy,
i have an 88 yj. has chevy 350, 350 tranny, 205 case, soa, 44 up front w/ detroit, and welded 14 bolt rear. currently sits on 38" tsl's. my leaves are saggin badly. gotta replace them. have thought about rubicon express "spring over" leaf packs with the reverse eyelets. just lookin for some suggestions. i also plan on relocating the rear...want to move it back a few inches. any advice would be great. thx a bunch

obviously your thinking of inverting your shackles to aid in streching out your axles, there was a cool thread in here on the yj stuff, about a guy moving his rear axle back...it had pics and explanations w/ it and it looked solid.

I've got a '95 YJ Chevy 350, SM465 & Dana 300 w/SOA, RE 1.5" Rev Eyelet springs & 1.25" shackles:punk:. I'm running Dana 44's front(welded) & rear(Aussie locker). I got 39.5" Boggers. Only problem I had was knobs on Boggers would rub leaf springs at full turn & rub my custom frame slider/step. I fixed the leaf spring rub by adding 1" wheel spacers up front & while I was at it added 1.5" spacers in the back. To fix the rubbing on the slider I just have to remove it & cut it down some. Rubicons work fine for me, rides exceptionally well for 40" Boggers. My Toyota has 40" Boggers & doesn't ride this well & it has IFS.

sweet. what kind of shocks you runnin? how much travel you get? originally i was planning on setting up a 4 link w/ coils in the rear and leafs up front....but since i'm not geometrically inclined. i'm stickin with leafs all around....for now. i'll be runnin 37" iroks, so i don't think i'll have any trouble with rubbing. thx a bunch fellas

Shocks are Skyjacker. There extened length for more travel.

Hmm thats weird, I usually see people running coil overs in front and leafs in the rear.

here's what i was thinkin....wanted the travel a linked suspension can offer. but i don't like the pucker factor linked suspensions offer. i'm still a newbie learnin the ropes. so i figured i'd link the rear and keep leafs up front because the rear is "easier" to set up than the front. i've looked around and found a whole bunch of rigs out there that are set up like this. found one very good write up on a yj build on pirate forums about it.....pretty sure it was pirate forums. seemed like a good fit for me. but, like i said before. i'm not ready to tackle this myself yet....so i'm stickin with leafs all around for now.:punk:

did a couple searches....found a few threads. not sure if i found the one you were talkin bout or not. most of the threads were recomending kits for moving the rear back. i'm 86'in the rear seat so i won't have an issue with the fuel tank. i'll just put it in the bed. what other obtacles will i encounter? i'm not sure if the jeep has an sye kit or not. i asked the guy i got it off and he didn't know either. the rear driveshaft is pretty steep right now. moving the rear back will help flatten the angle out right....hopefully a nice enough angle that i won't need an sye? any thoughts anyone?

If your gonna have enough lift to fit those sized tires....your doing a sye for sure.
Hell most guys need them by 4" or so.
