How wide can i go?

97 sahara (goes by the name beavis) stock wheels, 4" sl (going to install tomorrow, wish me luck). Ive seen this question before and cant seem to find an answer. I want to pick up some 33's and want to go as wide as possible on the stock wheels. How wide are your tires on stock rims?

33 x 12.5 is whatcha want then as far as tire size. Should have no problems with a four inch lift

From what I've read a 12.5" tire will not be ideal on a stock rim (7-7.5" wide)
Not to mention all the rubbing you would have even when lifted. I've read 3.75-4 back spaccing is minimal for a 12.5" tire.
I'm looking at the crager soft 8 for my 33's.
15x8 and 4" bs(can't rmember).

yikes. I didnt realize stockers were so small.
33 x 12.5 goes well on an 8inch wide rim. You can put it on a bigger rim, but an 8inch wide rim will allow you to air it down more.

I believe you can step down to 33 x 10.5...which i guess would be what you need if you wanna keep your stock rims

its not the width of the rim that is the issue, it is the back spacing.
stock wheels cant go much wider then a 10.5 tire, a 12.5 is going to rub all over the place, and you risk doing damage to your expensive new tires.

as far as 33s, there are 33x10.5 in KM2 and BFG AT, and a 33x9 in the AT.
anything wider, and you need spacers, or wheels with the proper backspacing

Thanks, you put it much better than me.
I was just thinkin about rim width, because most 15x8 rims offer atleast 4inches of backspacing from what ive seen.
But i was deffiently not clear with what i said
