Hazard lights come on with left turn signal

OK, I'm stuck. My hazard light switch does what it is supposed to do. My right turn signal does what it is supposed to do. But, my left turn signal turns on my hazard lights! :banghead:

Bulbs are good. Headlights, tail lights, and brake lights are good. Fuses are good. No obvious broken wires or corrosion in sockets. Relays don't rattle, but I haven't tested them beyond that.

If it matters, horn won't blow, dash panel lights don't work, and wipers don't work.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated!

Has it recently been wired for or to be towed? Has it been like this since you've owned it? how long has this been happening? History?

I just got it last week. The kid I bought it from knows nothing about its history. He was driving it with burned out left front signal. I replaced the bulb and noticed the problem. If I remove the bulb, nothing at all happens when I put on the left signal. No towing rig or wiring.

sounds like a problem in the turn signal switch in the steering column...

When I bought mine, some ijit had replaced a dual-filament bulb with a single, effectively shorting out the two contacts in the socket. Using the turn signal on that side flashed all of the park lights, making it appear that the hazards were on. Even if the bulbs are correct, a short between the signal circuit and the park light circuit would have the same effect. Worth a look.

I am hoping not to have to change the multi-function switch. That looks like a repair outside of my abilities.

I will double check all of the bulbs to make sure no digits have put a single where a double should be and vice versa. I hope the fix is that easy!

I appreciate the suggestions!

Interesting that the dash lights don't work but the tail/park lights do. I hope your Jeep hasn't seen a lot of rain with the top down. Good luck.
