Rear window on a hardtop

I have been having a problem with my rear window popping open when I shut my doors. Has anyone had this problem before or is there a adjustment that can be made to fix the issue. I really noticed it since the last time I took off the top..

my 04 rubicon has/had that same problem. Chrysler/Jeep is aware of it and they have a fix... they came out with a new rear glass hatch that has a lower lip that the tailgate door catches better.

Or you can do what I did... bought some heavyduty velcro from wal-mart and stuck a 12" strip of the "hook" side of the velco strip along the upper edge of the tailgate door. that strip of velcro helps catch that hatch weather stripping really securely so it doesn't pop open anylonger.

I previously tried lowering the glass on the hinges but there wasn't really enough adjustment... so I tried fiddling with the hinges some more and I overtightened a hing bolt on the glass hatch and it shattered. lol... after replacing the glass hatch I went the velcro route... then a few months later I heard about the rear hatch that chrysler now uses for the TSB on this issue

Ok cool. I will talk to the Jeep dealer and see if they will cover it on a TSB

good idea

Yeah sounds like a good step to take but also be reminded like any dealership, you'll probably pay through the nose for it. I think they wanted to charge me like a ridiculous amount for an extra lug nut when clearly I could go down the street to like autozone and pay a fraction of the cost.

sounds like a pressure thing. until you talk to jeep, maybe just open up the window a little bit before you close the door?

There is a service bulletin for this. It costs about $50.00. It replaces the lower gasket carrier on the bottom of the glass. The new one has a longer tongue that catches the tail gate and prevents the glass from popping out everytime you shut a door.

Same problem for me..... I'll try the velcro route for .50 and see. I've tried the hinge and other routes without any luck. Maybe I should just run topless all year round and wouldn't have that problem..... unfortunately, it only 5 here today.
