Anybody out there tried putting on 31x10.5x15 tires on a stock height 95' wrangler . I got a set of 15x8 pro comp wheels and have tried 1 so far and put it up front.... Turned the wheel lock to lock and didn't feel it rub the frt fenders. Looks like it will clear the rears too but want to know if anyone else out there has done it without a lift and had any problems.....
Thx

Yes, just had to trim the plastic on our fender a bit.

Anepyer4964 12-08-2011 11:29 PM

Just the frt part of the rear fenders right?

No issues here. No lift and 31 BFG All terrains. No trimming needed for me.

SandyMushYJ 12-09-2011 07:16 AM

My 31 inch Pro Comp MT's rub the leaf spring at full lock with stock wheels, which a lift won't fix, but I just lifted mine a couple inches because I hit a curb with a front tire and it got into my fender. No other issues in the year they've been on it.

No lift, trimmed all 4 flares in inch up, and trimmed the fender 1 inch up. so i raised the flares.

any issues offroad? I was saving for some metal cloak fenders but this sounds MUCH cheaper.

Driller 12-09-2011 12:36 PM

mine with the BFG all terrain T/A's KO's on full lock to lock rub the springs but it's with the stock steel rims 15x7. either will go with 1" -1 1/2" spacers or look for new rims. any steel rims you guys use that will have back space to do the trick? preferably stock or you just using alloy rims, Driller

It looks like you have a 2" lift.

Really? This is how is was when I got it. I've always asses there wa mo lift. I'll have to investigate more tomorrow. I know the shackles are stock. What else should I be looking for? Sorry to hijack the thread. Here is a side shot.

Jeffd34 12-11-2011 10:35 PM

Darn auto correct on the iPhone. I wasn't paying attention. I can spell. Lol

Ibuildembig 12-11-2011 10:40 PM

Yeah something has been changed, you cannot run a 31 on a stock setup and not rub the heck out of the flares.

Jeffd34 12-11-2011 10:47 PM

Ok now I really can't wait to go out and investigate. I know the shocks are a red color but I've beer noticed any markings of a brand name or anything. My avatar is another good shot of my yj.

Ibuildembig 12-11-2011 10:49 PM

From the looks of it, someone put a set of springs on it. Yours are arched an stock ones are more/less flat.

He has about the same clearance I had with stock height and 31's. Ran it for a year before installing the lift and only rubbed the springs with stock wheels. I hit the flare once when I hit a curb with the tire. Stock and 31's:

Hmm odd, I have had lots and lots of yj's and haven't had one yet with 31's that didnt rub on the flares

SandyMushYJ 12-12-2011 10:31 AM

Where do they usually rub? I'll check for signs, but I've never heard or felt it. Maybe if I had less offset in the wheels it would catch the flare behind the front wheel when turning. I don't remember how much clearance it had there.

Ibuildembig 12-12-2011 11:10 AM

You normally can see where the bottom lip of the flare has rubbed the tire. They are straight across and not radiused like it would be if the tire has rubbed it down.

River Rat 12-12-2011 06:28 PM

I have a 19mm offset on my wheels so no spring rub, but i do have flare rub. New set of OMEs sitting here waiting for me to put on.

Did you do anything other than the 2" lift? I'm trying to decide on a lift and that photo looks perfect. Wish it wasn't so blurry.
Thanks.

I have 31s on my 95, they rub the leaf springs on stock wheels when you turn on the way. They rub the flare if you had anything in the road at all, they will rub in the back if you put people in the rear seat

Anepyer4964 01-06-2012 01:12 PM

@ Randar- well the kit I bought came with springs, shocks, brk hose ext brkts , bump stops, and frt sway bar ext. the only other thing I needed was the shock ext brkt kit and of course I had the shackle bushings replaced with polyurethane as well.....
If your thinking of going with 4" or higher then you'll need a new rear driveshaft I was told and maybe a trans drop spacer (not sure what else) . I'll post a better pic soon....

jfbilbro 01-06-2012 01:19 PM

I have a 91 Renegade with 31's and have no problems at all...no rubbing on anything.

randar 01-06-2012 05:01 PM

That looks nice. Tell me about those doors. Obviously I'm just starting. Does the top half/ windows detach? I'd like doors that are good for summer and winter.

Thats because the renegades use a totally different flare

randar 01-06-2012 05:16 PM

That's what I needed to know. My main concern is if I'll need the SYE. I want to get it in the air a little more (can't hardly even crawl under without jack stands) and hopefully somewhat improve the ride and travel. My 3/4 ton dodge rides like a caddy in comparison. Of course I will want to put 31 or 32's on it soon. I've got 235's now and they rub on the springs if I turn to stops. Have you noticed any smoother ride?
Thanks.

Ibuildembig 01-06-2012 05:19 PM

No sye needed until you go 6" or above

randar 01-06-2012 09:29 PM

This is what I mean't to do, (I think). Still figuring this forum out.
