I see one on Google Earth near the Hwy 1077 exit (Madisonville/Pumpkin Center?) next exit west on I-12 after hwy 21 exit. Another on Donya Rd off Hwy 11 exit in Slidell. Going to check them out.

Ok man if they look fun let me no I'm always trying to find something

They were all posted private property and the one on 1077 was gated. It's hard to find even abandoned roads around here, much less trails.

Yo, Finally find some people in southern La :wavey: . I'm close to New Orleans, iv been looking for a place to go off road. My jeep is completely stock so i want some people to go with for when i get stuck, but don't know anyone around here thats willing. Have any of you been out to the bonnecarre spillway? I hear some go out there, but iv never been.

The Bonne Carre spillway is a definite possibility. I fly over it all the time and you can see a lot of dirt roads. Note: they aren't trails or off-roading in the true sense. They are dirt roading. You might find some levess or ridges in it you can drive over but I doubt it. I don't think you can get off the dirt roads because (1)it's a swamp and you'll probably sink and (2)it's a swamp and you'll destroy it if you drive over undisturbed ground. However, there are dirt roads. Off roading in Louisiana that will challenge a jeep is tough to find unless you go to a place designed for it.
There's a book of maps called The Gazetteer which has all roads down to trails. I used to own one when I lived in Washington State and went backpacking. It's published for each state. I used to own one for Louisiana but it disappeared along the way. I think you can get one in Barnes & Noble. Take a look at that. It might be a good resource for local trails and wooded roads.

Lol so true about the swamps. One reason why ill never go alone. Ill half to go see if I can find that book sounds interesting. I hope to find a place soon.

Used to run around in the spillway with my old surburban crawfishing years ago. Now that I have a Jeep I quess I should try it out. Yep, if you get too far off the road around here your vehicle better be a boat are you are in trouble!

I zoomed in on the Bonne Carre spillway in Google Earth. It looked like dirt roads accessible right off Airline Hwy. I drove out there and, sure enough, that's what they were. Very nice dirt roads, in fact. You could drive a sedan around there and almost not get it dusty.
