Did I get a good price?

Hello all,

Well I'm really excited because I bought my first wrangler yesterday. I've wanted one for years but could never find an appropriate time to buy one. I can't wait to take the top off and drive it around when it gets warmer.

Was wondering if you all think I got a good deal. I paid $13,300 and here's what I got:

2004 Wrangler X
54,500 miles
4.0L I6 - Manual
4 brand new tires (looks like they had just been put on)
Soft top
Excellent condition (inside & out) - looks almost new

The deal has already been made but I was wondering how you all thought I did.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Based on what they're selling for in my area, that's a pretty good deal.

Vector6 10-28-2007 09:06 AM

you did good..

jonnybravo 10-28-2007 10:58 AM

I think you found a great deal. i looked at one almost the same at the stealership this summer and the wanted about 16000 for it.

Riptide63 10-28-2007 11:15 AM

Jeeps seem to hold their value really well. That would go for about 16-18k around here.

You did good.........:D

dwdrums801 10-28-2007 11:21 AM

4'' of lift and 35 bfg mts.. all new aftermarket bumpers, and they are ordering a spare for her since it didnt come with one.. and also with an extended warranty to 85k miles i believe

tough_jeep89 10-29-2007 12:36 AM

it sounds like a good deal. i got my 05 x soft top in mint condition with 9500 miles for a little over 15000 but then agian i work for the company so it was really going for 20 ish

Dare2BSquare 10-29-2007 07:45 AM

Just be prepared to spend another 10k for all the upgrades you will want to do to it!!!

In June I paid $17k to a dealership for a:
2005 Wrangler
33k miles
4.0L 6-speed
AC
Dual tops

So it seems lik you got a decent deal.

MCG 10-29-2007 01:38 PM

For what you saying, around here maybe it will be $14k or so.
Also it deppends on many factors & what kind of dealership too.
Did you run the carfax report??

sgarelick 10-29-2007 01:48 PM

I did run the carfax report and everything looked clean.

I showed the car to one of my co-workers today and he thought it was new. He was shocked when I told him it had 54,000 miles on it. Maybe he was just trying to be nice.

I like good deals i got my 04 rubi auto with dual tops (1615) miles for 19,500, private party but i just dropped another 9200$ into it :-( and im still not done! Sometimes i wish i left her stock! That sounds like a very good deal,it is stick though but some people rather have stick. If i was never to go rock crawling id rather have a stick!
i bought a 99 sahara with hard top and 74K miles for 12500 and sold it for 13500 3 months later with 77K miles. It had black rims and 32 mtrs on a rustys 3in sa lift when i bought it.

binaryking 10-29-2007 03:37 PM

That's a great deal! And it sounds like you got yourself a nice wrangler too! Congrats on the find. :D

It boils down to this, if you got what you wanted, at a price you are happy with, then you got the best deal going! For example, I wouldn't have taken the same Jeep I bought in either Blue or Yellow even if it were $5K cheaper, I still wouldn't have been happy!

Go Buckeyes!

4bangertj 10-29-2007 10:22 PM

sounds like a good deal to me, i got my 99 w 68k on it at the time for 6200, but its also a 4 banger

richp 10-30-2007 12:25 PM

I bought one of my 97TJ's for $3K about 3 years ago, it's an SE 2.5L 5 speed and had 69K on the clock, needed a new top, really needed a new top, no windows in back, but it came with slider side windows. Drove three hours to conn one way on a sunday in january from PA but drove it home, tad on the breezy side though, especially when the sun went down, good heater, sweaty feet and frozen ear lobes.

sgarelick 10-30-2007 12:34 PM
