az - anaconda

this morning me and two of my friends went to the Table Mesa area north of Phx to run Anaconda and a few other trails. Unfortunately my lockers on my rubicon weren't activating so I rode shotgun in my friend Jamie's jeep.

I was feeling bummed that my lockers werent working so I drove my jeep through lower terminator with open diffs. That was fun and was a good day. I'll get my lockers working this week and get back out to anaconda soon.

Heres a few photos from today...

I'm jealous of a few things there. The trail. and your trim level.

'04 was the year they had the electric lockers right?

ygohome 11-03-2007 09:39 PM

The newer JK rubicons (07 and up) have the electric lockers. the 03-06 rubicons came with low pressure (5psi) air pumps to activate the lockers. One pump for the front and one for the rear. Mine weren't activating because I think the sensor that plugs into the tcase was messed up and the lockers will only engage if that sensor can see that I'm in 4lo. SInce it can't see that I'm in 4lo, the lockers refuse to activate. At least I think thats what the problem is... I'll find out for sure on Monday hopefully.

Hey Ben, are you gonna make it up here to Payette on the 10th? I'll be there to run my junk for the first time since its lift.

Looks good man! I really need to make a trip down there just to do some wheeling.

Payette Draw is always alot of fun... I'm considering going but havn't really decided for sure. Its such a long drive back and I'm always tired after wheeling. lol. So, maybe :D

Great pics Ben, looks like a good time.

I got under the jeep today and figured out that the transfer case position sensor was bad.... since the jeep couldn't see that it was in 4lo it wouldn't let the lockers activate. I couldve waited till the dealership was open on Monday and picked up a new sensor but I hate going to the dealership. and who knows how much they wouldve charged for a new sensor ($20 or $200) lol. So I wired it so the locker switches would bypass the tcase position sensor. Now my lockers are working again and I'm ready for next weekend :D

Nice work Ben. Did you get your Clutch and everything worked out also? Heard you were having some issues while we were out last week.

ygohome 11-06-2007 03:53 PM

yeah, got a new clutch and new rear pinion bearing. 4wheelers were saying at first that it sounded like the rear locker or gears or something broken. Thats when I called Jeremy at AO to see what options I might have if I ended up having to get it fixed (arb & Mas Grand?)... fortunately it was just the pinion bearing but my credit card was ready. lol.

And of course there was that little deal about the transfer position sensor not working and that prevented my rubicon from engaging its lockers but I found an easy workaround to that so its all good. I'm running this trail Saturday and maybe colatoral damage too.

Hows your jeeps front axle doing?
