Help for the Mechanicially Challenged

I am hoping someone can help me with a pretty basic question. I have an 06 TJ 4.0L, and under the hood there is a silver or bare metal cylinder to the right of the battery. The cylinder has hoses going through the firewall and to the right front side of the engine block. What is this cylinder? After a long road trip it was dripping a clear liquid that appeared somewhat more viscous than water. I did not use the AC at anytime during the trip. The dripping stopped after about 5 minutes but the total amount of liquid was more than I would expect for condensation. I am trying to figure out whether this is something that I need to have checked out by a mechanic, or is it a "normal" TJ thinig.

Thanks,

Kelly M.

It should be part of your a/c unit

Yup, tis your AC. The clear liquid is water -- condensation. And you are right...it appears to drip way more than I would expect it to...

Nothing to worry about.

Thanks guys. Would you expect to see condensation even if the AC had not been used?

yes, your defrost/heater uses the dryer to remove humidity from the air.

It's a dryer they place in the ac lines and it removes moister:)
