2010 unlimited soft top fit a 2012 unlimited?

Anyone out there have experience installing a soft top that was bought from someone with a previous year's jeep?

I'm looking at picking up a OEM soft top for my 12' unlimited and have found a few for sale in the area that are new, but from different years. Would I have any problems installing any of these on my 2012 jeep?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Nope. Just can't mix and match components.
I think there has been like 2-3 changes. The jeep is the same so get all the hardware for the year you find, and you will be ok.

They will fit as long as all of the hardware is included.

Thanks for sharing this information. I called around yesterday to various online 4x4 accessories retailers whom explained that pre-2011 Soft Top will not fit the 2012. They couldn't give me a reason other than the top had changed.
You mentioned that there were 2-3 changes. Do you know what the changes were and if they are significant enough to adversely affect fitment?

thanks,

Mario

I don't know what the changes were, but if you buy a JK ('07+) top with all the hardware (door surrounds, etc), it will fit, as stated below.

Guys, let's say you have a 2010 soft top for your 2012 and you are missing a few pieces? Where would be the best resource to find them?

Don't know if you've got a 2- or 4-door, but...

Try this:

Mopar Soft Top Hardware for Jeep Wrangler Jk Unlimited 4 Door from Morris 4x4

I'm sure there are other places to get parts (Mopar, for one), but I like the ease of use with the diagram.

Lemme know if it works or not, for future reference. :thumb:

And here's the 2-door diagram, 'cause I know peeps'll be asking. :D

Doesn't look like anything has changed to me since QT sells tops for 2007-2012 which will fit any of those years. I am looking at a couple of used tops from 07-10 local to me and really would like to know if they will work as well.

It wont fit, I just bought a 2012 and kept my old 2010 soft top, the rear window does not fit correctly and leaves a 1 inch space, also the top is MUCH harder to pull down to fit the holders in place. anyone wanna buy a 2010 soft top? used 1 summer lol $600? :)

1 inch space where?

I thought as long as all the hardware is there for the year top, it would fit.

It will fit installed correctly. The 2012 is not larger than the 2010. The 2012 window itself is larger, therefore parts are not interchangeable as mentioned previously, but the entire top will fit.

There may be a difference in the way the rear brackets for the window bar work, in which case you should try a 2012 rear soft top bracket.

I had the same issue. It will fit as long as the hardware is the same year as the soft top. There has been 2 changes in hardware did the 2011 and 2012.

do different brands match up?

I'm about to buy a soft top frame (mopar) from one guy, and the soft top (bestop or smittybilt, he's not sure) and they're both to a tj. I was wondering if they'll both match up and work?... And I'm asking in a comment bc I'm new to WF and can't figure out how to start a thread.

A TJ top will not fit on a JK.
