Run 1/6/12

Hey gang, my new lady friend wants to go for a local run on this coming Saturday. She has done Cleghorn with me and had a blast. I am wanting to do something fun and challanging without too much of a scare factor for her. If weather holds out, I am thinking of doing Gold Mtn. or even maybe Holcomb Creek, depending on the group going as I want to make sure we have capable enough rigs to do the run. So, let me know if anyone is interested and lets make this a fun and safe trip.

I am really wanting to do Holcomb Creek if I can get someone that has done it before to lead. If not, then I will be happy to lead on Gold Mtn. I am thinking of meeting at 1030 at the Discovery Center if that fits with everyons schedule. Plan on having lunch on the trail.

Jeff

MNTNGOAT 01-05-2012 09:08 PM

roger that!!! (wheres the discovery center)

JPi1 01-05-2012 09:30 PM

I'm wondering if and how much snow is on those trails?

BillG.OTD 01-05-2012 10:50 PM

I dont think I have done Holcomb trail (I think its 3N93) I have been on Gold Mountain. Either way is good by me.

Coop, The Discovery center is on HWY 38 very close by where we will leave the Hwy, we will probably head up about 930 from Redlands. You can follow us up the hill if you want.

teamhirev 01-05-2012 10:55 PM

I did Holcomb Creek with open diffs on 33" in my yj just choose your lines there was also this CJ5 on like 31" or 32" that went through with some tuggs and a whole lot of skidding on rocks. its not that bad wish I could make it but have to weld some frame tie ins for my bumper :( have fun!!!!

JPi1 01-05-2012 11:09 PM

I've done Holcomb a dozen times, never in the winter though. Are you guys going up 38 or 330?

MNTNGOAT 01-05-2012 11:33 PM

I am going up the 330 then to the back side of the lake. The discovery center is very easy to find. There are several signs stating the location when driving up there.

As for snow, I have no idea. The wather has been so nice lately it is probably all gone. I was in Idyllwild on New Years Day and only a couple of patches of snow on top in the shade. Besides that, the trail was dry.

This should be a good run. I am getting excited about it.

So your doing gold mtn?

turdhurdler 01-06-2012 03:27 PM

I am open for either run, but I figured that the Discovery Center would be a good meeting place for anyone not familar with the area.

Hahaha, been struggling all day trying to find the ground peice for my CB antenna. No one carries CB radio equipment anymore. Tried Radio Shack, Best Buy, an auto stereo shop etc. Think I may have to hit a truck stop someplace to get what I need.

All I need is the part that goes from the CB wire to the bracket and that threads into the antenna. It has a plastic washer that helps with stabalizing and somehow with the ground for transmitting...

So, short answer to your question, No, I do not have a CB, lol.

Hmmm. It is not uploading for some reason. Says in progress, but nothing happening. I will try something different.
