33's and recomended lift?

Hey guys, i have 31s with no lift at the moment, would like to upgrade to 33s soon, just woundering what u guys have done with ur lift sizes that looks and works good, suspension, body or both, thanks..

ShakaZulu8402 01-08-2012 11:36 PM

What jeep are you running? If you're on a tj you can run 33's with a 3.5 or 4 in lift very easily. I don't recommend a body lift as a good suspension lift will clear what you want just fine. Depending on your budget you could get a lift for as little as $600, or as high as a few thousand.

2.5 inch spring lift and 1.25 bodylift....will clear those little puppys just fine.

Owen_TJ 01-09-2012 12:12 AM

My personal recommendation would be a Zone 4.25" combo lift...

The Maine Jeeper 01-09-2012 12:14 PM

These are all good recomendations, iv actually debated all these options, i know body lifts arnt always the most popular but i wouldnt mind lifting my body jus a lil for the trails, but the suspension will certainly be the first ordeal. My only concern is i will be getting the lift on before the 33's due to budget, and theres some guys around here runnin like 6 inch suspension lifts with stock tires haha looks like shit i dont wana have that look so i want it to look half way decent with the 31's for now.

Just did a 4" Rough Country suspension lift. 33X12.5 on 15"X8" wheels. No problems yet.

cool guys thanks for the posts appreciate it, and thanks for the pics 97SPORT09 thats a big help, i have to agree with u that it does look a lil off with only the 31's and thats potentially what mine would look like so thats a good heads up

howd u decide on the skyjacker with all the other lifts out there all claiming to be the best, i want to go with quality and dont want problems after a couple months...

Did the same thing on my 03 Rubicon 3 years ago, running Cepek Crushers same size as you have and same size rims. Haven't even 'stuffed' a tire yet-and done some good rock and ledge offroading. Just don't forget (:banghead: ) to put on the brake line extensions!

The skyjacker lift, rough country lift, and zone lift are going to be mainly looked at as "budget lifts" because they'll do what you want for a good price. I personally think rough country rides too rough and when i was going my lift it came down to either the Zone 3" lift or the Skyjacker lift...i ended up with the Zone lift and couldnt be happier with it. The ride is better than stock and it has put up with a lot of abuse offroad thus far. I will be adding a 1.25" body lift, 1" motor mount lift, and quick discos this weekend (all zone). My 3" lift and 1.25" body lift would be equal to the 4.25 combo lift, so from my experience i recommend it.

If you want "the best" though, go with OME...

The Maine Jeeper 01-09-2012 01:06 PM

What about Pro Comp?

InvertChaos 01-09-2012 04:19 PM

I would go with an OME 2.5" suspension lift and a 1.25" JKS body lift + 1" MML if i had to do it again. I went with the RC stuff first and have already spent what I would have spent if i had just gone OME the first time. Apparently ProComp coils aren't too bad so i would go ProComp coils, OME shocks, 1.25" JKS body lift, 1" MML, bumpstop extensions, JKS quick discos, and my 4.56 gears.

ShakaZulu8402 01-09-2012 07:06 PM

Savvy/currie 4.0" JJ lift. No other lift has as many components and is even close to the quality. It is the best lift, bar none. Ask any jeeper - if you can afford it you go savvy/currie.

I also recommend this. Good company with quality parts

I try and avoid any of the big manufacturers. They tend to focus more on profit than product. I don't want crap Chinese steel and poor machining work. I also want a good warranty and someone I can talk to at the company if something goes wrong. Lastly, it helps if the owners are jeepers as they share the same passion we all do.

I have 33s with a 3" lift from Rustys. Wheels are 17x8.5 with -15mm offset. No clearance issues at all.

I have a teraflex 3" suspension lift 33x10.5 BFGs at 4"bs and proper bumpstop length. looks good, wheels good.

TJNewbie 01-12-2012 10:22 PM

Zone offroad has a 4.25" combo lift it is a 3" suspension lift and a 1.25" body lift/1" Motor mount lift for $529. or a 3" suspension lift for $460. Ruggedly engineered suspensions from Zone Offroad

I had read a lot of good reviews for the skyjacker and I had liked the brand even before the reviews, great price and quality parts It rides amazing compared to the old stock suspension. If you go with skyjacker lift get the hydro shocks, the nitro's are too stiff I have heard which becomes a very uncomfortable ride for the Jeep.

Also check out this link this will help you decide which lift and tire combo you are looking for...

I have a JKU, but am also getting a 2.5" lift soon. The strong contenders are the Rock Krawler 2.5" max travel and Teraflex 2.5".

I have a 4.5 RE lift with 33x12.5 and getting ready to run some 35s on a 16 wheel.
