BIG HORSE POWER COMES IN SMALL PACKAGES..... LET THIS BUILD BEGIN !!!!

ELIMINATOR 01-16-2012 07:50 AM

I have been waiting 3 yrs for this build and its finally taking place. After a little research, I contacted Novak Conversions and spoke to Ryan about fitment and parts. From then on I started a list of parts and then ordered my engine from GM PERFORMANCE PARTS. It is the new ls3 376/480 . 480hp and 375 ft/lbs. I doubt that i'll ever see 400 ponies come out of it but it'll be there if i ever need it

drew11 01-16-2012 08:30 AM

What are your plans for tranny, transfer, axles, and driveshafts? I dropped a 355 SBC massaged pretty good and still not sure my front 3/4 ton axles are going to handle the HP and I figure I am some where around 425 hp.

ELIMINATOR 01-16-2012 08:46 AM

oh nooooooo... my jeep wont see know where near 400 ponies...lol this is my baby.... i take really good care of her. The motor comes in play for 3 reasons:
1. gas milage
2. for pulling my four wheeler and boat.
3. and for show and shine.

she has never been in the mud, never climbed a rock!!!!!!!!

ill be using a beefed up ax-15 with 231j transfer w/ Extreme short shaft and Taraflex SYE

ELIMINATOR 01-16-2012 08:49 AM

I will be building a ford 9in just for the rear. i dont need the great beefy axles for what i do with my jeep. KEEP IN MIND, THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVER.

Too much of a PITA for me. I went this way:

Sweet build. I should have used one of these motors.

ELIMINATOR 01-16-2012 09:24 PM

actually, that is what i wanted to do. your cluster is an awesome piece of work. but i was told it was easier to use my existing cluster with a novak tack re calibrator.

Wrangler06 01-16-2012 09:31 PM

gonna subscribe cuz i think this will be awesome but if its your daily driver and NEVER sees mud why is in on 37 inch mud grapplers? why not get some nice all terrains and save a little gas lol

I couldn't figure how to do that. If you do get it working correctly, I'd like to read your 'how to' writeup.

I was always told that the TJ computer ran off a BUSS, which would require the Chrysler computer & related sensors to be utilized, and I wanted to simplify the harness as much as possible.

ELIMINATOR 01-16-2012 09:37 PM

The reason being for the 37in tires is the amount of lift i get, with the right gearing, i will still be getting better gas mileage that i did the the 4.0. I like looking down on people on the highway... and i dont mind the noise they make. I am a unique individual i guess

ELIMINATOR 01-16-2012 09:39 PM

correct treeclimber. i will also be utilizing my factory computer. In other words, i will have a bit of both, old harness and computer along with new harness and computer

well i wasnt sayin anything about the noise or height,, my buddy daily drives a tj on 38x15.50s lol i was referring to how little mileage you get outta those mud grapplers lol not putting you down at all i promise just makin conversation:thumb: should be a good build

ELIMINATOR 01-16-2012 09:45 PM

no worries i didnt think you were putting me down at all. i been having those same grapplers on there for 4 years now. I work in the gulf for half the month so i dont drive it but 2 weeks out of every month. that may explain why i have been having them for so long

yjkid95 01-16-2012 10:17 PM

I dont know if your interested in this or not but I believe novak actually sells complete wiring harnesses for these swaps. Could be a pretty penny though.

ELIMINATOR 01-16-2012 10:19 PM

Well here's the low down on parts:
1. FX3300 Series electric cooling fan with integrated shroud
2. Radlock Radiator.
3. LS3 376/480 HOT CAM crate engine from GM Performance parts, with accessory drive and GM computer
4. Novak bell housing adapter
5. New Heavy Duty AX-15 Trans with HURST shifter.
6. Novaks Transfer Case Cable Shifter Kit.
7. Extreme short shaft SYE.

I'LL try my best to explain the procedure i took to get where i am know

ELIMINATOR 01-16-2012 10:22 PM

true yjkid. but they only sell the engine harness, not the instrument cluster harness. i will be utilizing my factory harness for this

My original plans were to install an ls2 in the jeep but after researching that a ls3 was a better, all around platform, i then started to research ls3. After the conclusion that i can have all the power i wanted with the ls3, and not to mention the hot cam that came with it, and a 24 month or 50,000 mile warranty, i could not pass that up. This is how it arrived, on a crate, like a great big present from santa clause

Next was the removal of the i-6 4.0

ELIMINATOR 01-16-2012 10:43 PM

After the engine was removed, i then began to work on the interior. I replaced the old deck bracket with the new i-vault. This is a nice piece of security

yjkid95 01-16-2012 10:46 PM

That radlock radiator and integrated shroud with the fan is a realllll nice piece. I have it in my sbc conversion and absolutely love it. The only bad part about it is that all the shiney aluminum makes it so people dont even notice the 350 right behind it.
