My old man bought this Willys in the 60s from the original owner. Still running with the I4, 3 speed on the floor. Still has the tires he put on it when he bought it. We just use it to putt around our property...hunting vehicle. This thing is a TANK!

The body is pretty beat up, the brake lines need replaced and we're planning to alter the braking system to have a fail-safe since from the factory if your brakes went out it, NONE of your brakes worked. Aside from that, she fires right up and runs like a champ. You won't set any land-speed records with her, but I've only seen her stuck twice, in the winter of '93 and winter of '96 when we had over 3 feet of snow on the ground and she was high-centered. We dug the snow out from underneath and kept truckin'...tire chains on all four, she's unstoppable. This is the Jeep that got me hooked.

I absolutely love Flat Fenders. I can spot them from a half mile away with only a corner showing from out of an old barn. So always enjoy that Willys.

With that said, you may want to consider replacing the 9" drum brakes with 11". I did it and it dramatically helps in overall braking. Figured if you're going to do some brake upgrades, it just makes since. The 9" are just too easily fatigued...and squeak!

With all the mods done to my Jeep, I still wish I had the 134 straight 4 cyl in it. The V6 is just amazing, but that 4 cyl was so simplistic. If you have any questions on mods, just give me a shout.

MacGordon - Thanks, I'll keep that in mind! The drum brake upgrade is a logical one due to increased braking power and less noise. I'll bring it up to my old man. It's still his so I'm not going to go making any changes w/o his consent. I really hope to restore it one day, but that'll be a ways off. I'd like to keep it as close to original as possible.

4Jeepn - Thanks for fixing my title! and thank you, I suppose for a 65 year old Jeep it could be in a lot worse condition. Still needs some work though.

you dont have to beat any speed records when ya can go anywhere--

i love it, i got 1 and its as ugly as a wet cat as of now , but im just starting to take her apart----(so many ideas,, may take a while--lol)

Here is the fix for dual circuts on the brakes if you don't want to convert to hanging pedals.

A 47 2A is what I learned to drive in and was also my introduction to back country wheeling, when I was a kid-60 years ago. The 11" brakes are a very good bolt-on improvement.

Ive always wanted a pure hunting machine. But that thing is to Damn cool to not get it up and goin good again! Maybe ill turn my yj into a hunt rig and get one of those to drive around in!
