If you have the 4.2 do the HEI DISTRIBUTOR swap mine runs like a beast now

I'm having the same issue right now. I'm working on the jeep right now and from the icm under the washer fluid there's only 1 orange wire 1 dark green wire 1 light green wire and 1 pinkish white wire ???? There is no purple ??
Can anyone help us out ???

The last picture is the icm unbolted and flipped over to see if the colors showed better underneath but it's the same. Anyone?

Are you sure you have the right set of wires? You should have 4 wires in and only 3 out.

I just did the nutter bypass on my 89 yesterday. The pic u have is the correct wires the purple wire from the dist. Needs to tie into the wire that goes into the plug in the picture but dosent come out the other side. On mine the orange wire changed colors on the other side of the plug, its green with a black stripe i just traced it over to were the wires go threw the firewall to the comp cut it there and hooked it up to the orange wire from the dist.

It may not help you out any but on mine i actually changed out the icm to one from an 84 Ford F150. My dad just happened to have one laying around at his shop after i mentioned my problem to him and it had the purple and orange wire coming from it and it works fine . Just some FYI in case you know someone. I think most 80's model Fords have have it.

The differance that this bypass made on my 89 is night and day. Top end on the highway is 100% improvement and it has way better throtle response now.

I didn't see this in time and I attempted the nutter by pass and kinda guessed Nd tried to see what happened, so I connected the orange from the distributor to the really light orange wire u see in the picture, the first 1 on the left and then connected the purple from the distributor to the pinkish white wire u see in the picture, which is the 2nd wire from the left in the first picture and it started and ran pretty good, if I did the nutter bypass wrong, would the car still run? Now I'm worried that I did it wrong ?
