What do you think? My dad and I did this last summer

schnutzy 01-29-2012 11:06 AM

that looks surprisingly good. nice work

TFBlackout05 01-29-2012 02:46 PM

looks good! just confusing... mind is going Jk no tj no Jk... wait tj!

Jason1348 01-29-2012 07:13 PM

I have to ask why?

CJS98TJ 01-29-2012 10:20 PM

How you make it fit? Just drill new holes? Not bad for a bumper upgrade. confusing when looking at it though haha never seen it done. Very unique

MrKevinRosales 01-29-2012 10:24 PM

Well this is my dad's TJ, he really likes the look of the fog lights on the JK's and being that a JK was out of our price range, this seemed to be a good solution and a good project to take on.

since the JK bumper has front mount holes as opposed to the mount holes on the TJ. the stock bumper was left on and trimmed, and holes were drilled so that the bumper could just be bolted on, on top of the other one.

CJS98TJ 01-29-2012 10:26 PM

Nice quite clever

Or a JJ. :whistling:

Jason1348 01-29-2012 10:37 PM

Looks like a tj that went to dentist and has a retainer

obidya 01-29-2012 10:53 PM

I like it, I bet it would look cool if you cut it to be a stubby

NOMUGGLE 01-29-2012 11:21 PM

I really kind of like it. What modifications did you make to put it on?

MrKevinRosales 01-30-2012 07:41 AM

It is a stubby, we just didn't cut the bumper all the way in. otherwise it would have been wider than the fenders.

like i said before there were really no modifications done to the JK bumper except the stubby end conversion kit. and it was put over the stock bumper which was cut and drilled so that this bumper could just be bolted on.

TJNewbie 03-22-2012 06:51 PM

It does look good!!

Cool

yjkid95 04-13-2012 11:48 PM

I have to say that actually doesnt look to bad. Granted it doesn't do anything performance wise offroad, it deffinettly looks really good and clean.

Thracks 04-14-2012 05:15 AM

Wow, JK bumpers look HUGE on TJs.

TJ Hooligan 04-28-2012 03:41 PM

I like it but think it would look better with the center section painted black

chimera555 04-29-2012 12:22 AM

I like it; very clever! Now just picture a winch sitting in the middle of it now :)

That's what it would look like without the applique haha.

Though there is a JK at my local dealership that has a darker middle section, that would probably look better against the dark green

mistermicroscope 06-24-2013 08:18 AM

I was inspired to put a jk bumper on my tj too because of your post.

I was bored.
I took off the old tj bumper.
Made two brackets from 1/4" steel.

It's getting there.

Big Sarge 06-24-2013 03:03 PM

I put one on mine as well and have gotten tons of compliments. Just need to wire up my fog lights still, have been putting it off. I have a week of next week so that's on the to do list.
