dash tweeters

hey ya'll I was thinkin about doing some sort of jerry rigging to make the brackets for something like this
http://www.quadratec.com/products/14133_100.htm

let me know any ideas ya'll may have. thanks

tazmann910 12-02-2007 07:57 PM

I have something a little cheaper for ya. I mounted my horn tweeters in the center air ducts, I glued them in there and they work great. Plus they are hidden and protected. Just a thought.

foxinthemudd 12-03-2007 10:33 PM

pic?

tazmann910 12-03-2007 10:38 PM

I will have to go out and take some, and take the dash apart to get the pic. Give me a few days and I will send them to you. this upgrade only cost me 25 bucks.

foxinthemudd 12-03-2007 10:56 PM

that would be great thanks taz

dwdrums801 12-04-2007 04:26 PM

here you guys go, here is what I was talking about.

foxinthemudd 12-04-2007 11:52 PM

those don't get too hot in there??? it looks damn good. I would just be worried about how hot they get when I'm runnin the heater...

one more question for yall how do tweeters hook up to the deck? I know how to do the speakers but have no idea about how to run tweeters.

thanks for the pics again Taz

tazmann910 12-05-2007 09:17 AM

Look closly at the close up picture, they are glued in with silicon sealent and I coated the back of them with the sealent as well so to resist some of the heat. Plus the tweeters are in a plastic housing so they should be fine.

Just tie them into the regular speaker connections, that is all i did.

cherokee980 12-05-2007 09:24 AM

The tweeters should have some sort of x-over or capacitor to block out all the low end frequency.

foxinthemudd 12-05-2007 09:53 AM

cool ya I'll have to look into getting a set with x-overs maybe I can sucker one of my buddies into helping me wire them up :D

tazmann910 12-05-2007 09:58 AM

This was a very easy upgrade, took me about 30 minutes to do. As you can see the wiring comes towards the front and then back to the head unit. Very easy install.

foxinthemudd 12-05-2007 10:00 AM

I just want to make sure that I hook up the tweeters to the right wires. I installed my sound bar myself I should be able to figure this out right?

It should be as simple as LF + - / RF + -

tazmann910 12-05-2007 10:15 AM

Easier than a sound bar, and a lot less wires...:D

Just as an FYI, I would say 99.9% of any set of tweeters you buy should have a x-over or at least some sort of capacitor with them. If you are looking to save a little money (don't laugh, they work great), go to Wal-mart and get one of their $15 - $20 set of tweeters. I have them in my truck, my wife's car, and my Jeep.

tazmann910 12-05-2007 10:19 AM

So..lookie there we have saved you $79. If you would have ordered the set up from Qtec at $99.00 plus somewhere around $10 for shipping, I think this thread has done some good.
