Where to put my KC switch for my new lights? Daystar switch panel?

I purchased a set of KC lights for my windshield, great quality light can't wait to have them up and running. But my actual concern is where to mount the switch with out doing a hack job, so I looked around and found this from daystar on qudratec's website.

Daystar KJ71034BK - Daystar Lower Dash Switch Panel for 11-12 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

Is anyone familiar with this product and it's fitment an matching quality also is it a direct fitment? another question is that I drive a 6 speed will it be a problem with the shifter?

If anyone has one installed please post a picture on here

thanks

Wherever you decide to go just make sure there is room behind the panel you drill through.

Yeah I know, it needs a bath.

Installed one on my 08. The shift boot does contact it (switches 2&3 mainly). I solved the problem by changing my shifter boot. Got if from Redline

Thank You

The auto dose not have that problem but I love the way the Daystar panel looks. changing the boot like jmb6420 will fix it. That is what a lot of guys in my club have done.

That's so much more refined than the light panel I have. Then again, mine was only $15 and I wanted it to look simple.

I saw an a-pillar switch panel. Mounts on a-pillar at dash level. Think quadratec sells it.

Nadurra 02-01-2012 11:49 AM

Plastic under steering wheel.

ThePalmBeachYeti 02-04-2012 01:54 PM

Yeah, the A-pillar one looks like something of interest.

Day star switch panel no argument low profile easy access, I love mine, has room for 4 switch, I bout boat switch which can double up.

I have mine sticking out of the area right underneath the steering wheel column. Only downside is I cant see the little green light if it is one, but other than that its an easy spot to throw it.

I have mine on the left of the steering wheel, similar to jkjeeper06. Perfect location, right near the headlight switch, so all the lighting is in the same area.

With regards to the Daystar panel - KJ71034BK, I can't seem to pull the old panel straight out like the instructions say. I have a 2012 Rubi-auto.

It almost looks as though I need to take the center console panel off because there is a lip on the cargo net panel at the bottom.

Anyone have any suggestions?

same on my 11. You can get it out but you have to pry. First time I pried it out and scratched things a little. So much easier taking center console panel off.

I waited back in Nov 2011 for two months for the panel. Got fed up and bought sPOD. $$ But now I'm glad I did. Very clean and all of my fuses and wiring are clean.:punk:

There's three switches there now, added one when I added the Viair system.

I'm looking for a place to put switches (plasmaglow activator, needs ~1" of depth) on my '12. Is there a lot of room behind the oem net panel, where the daystar goes? Is there a lot of room behind the A-piller? Do A-piller switches when lit up cause any distraction while driving?

Take a look at that first picture in post #13. That's what i would recommend. It is real easy to pull the side panel off so you can check how much room there is. You will also see just how easy a place to run wires.

Spod it's worth it. So easy to add anything. I don't have much yet but it gives me a reason to add lights & stuff

I like that location, but on the '12 the speaker grill is there.
