just wondering

does anyone know what gear ratio an 04 wrangler with factory 30s would have

Wrangler06 02-04-2012 10:04 PM

what model? x, sport, rubicon?

jeeply 02-05-2012 07:11 AM

gear ratios

its a sport model.

Wrangler06 02-05-2012 11:00 PM

probably 3.73...check to see if your diff tag is legible...both differentials have a metal oval shaped tag on the left side of the diff cover...theres a bunch of numbers on there but the first 3 numbers on the 2nd row of numbers will be your axle ratio, being an 04 it shouldnt be rusted out too bad so you might still be able to read it.

thank you Wrangler06. i cant see any diff tag under there but going by the rpms it seems right. at 60mph its at 2100rpm in 5th gear. thanks again.

Wrangler06 02-06-2012 10:22 PM

sounds about right to me..and for the 5 speeds the 4.0s were 3.73s unless it was a rubi..6 speeds have 3.07s

Yes you can run up to 33's, your speedo will be off by 5mph at 60 mph but you'll still have good torque and fuel mileage

jeeply 02-21-2012 03:38 PM

thanks Jeep Lunatic. now if these dang 30s would wear out.
