Is the read out what it is doing at that moment or an accumulation?

The ECO reading is simply an average of your fuel consumption. If your looking for a real number, do the math at the pump. Divide the number of gallons put in with the mileage driven. ECO results usually give a higher average than what your really getting. You can reset it for a slightly more accurate number each time you fill up. But you'll run into it not being accurate again and again.

I found eco to be significantly lower then actual mpg

My readout is consistently off by about .8 of a gallon. I have 1800 miles so far.

So it's basically the MPG since the last time it was reset? I only have 850 miles on my new wrangler.

Correct, except that it I would call it the estimated MPG since last reset! Doesn't seem to be very accurate for most people. Mine reads high, but it is pretty consistently high, so gives me an idea of MPG between fill-ups, when I can actually calculate it.

Yeah I was surprised at the difference between hand calc and the computer. Then I was thinking I was getting significantly worse mpg than my 350Z that was supposed to get 18/24 and the computer usually read about 18.5-19 on avg. I just hand calculated an average fill-up mpg that my Z usually got. Uh, I'm not complaining about my Jeep's mpg anymore lol. Looks like my Z's computer was wayyyy off.

I'm convinced the displayed mileage is weighted towards current driving conditions. It's consistently within 1 mpg of the tank average, but is high or low depending on how I was driving right before I filled up.

my readout is always between .5 and 1.5 mph higher than actual.

my read out is so far off i dont even look at it any more,, its off be 5-7 mpg it tells me im getting 15 18 mpg when i only get 10-12.

Does anyone know a secret way to get better mileage? I have a 2dr JK 2011/4" susp lift w35" XTMud T's. Was getting average of 13.5-14MPG after the lift and tires. Installed K&N Intake and Dynomax exhaust and muffler and lost another Mpg...now average is 12.4-13! Is that normal...and the jeep is still slow. Should have waited a few more months for the 2012 I guess.

I know nothing about re-gearing but willing to do whatever it takes to have a bad ass vehicle that I enjoy and don't want to complain about. I'd like to get above 15mpg and a little more power but don't know where to start! Help me

Search for member JIMBOX's posts on his re-gearing of his 3.8L Auto. He is very happy with the results, to say the least, and his MPGs improved dramatically..... :thumb:

But, Jimbo has a sixth sense about this sort of thing, and he'll be around shortly, if he's not out in the boonies somewhere.

hi, i get about 20 mpg most of the time and over 25 mpg at 60mph my jeep is a 2012 with about 500 miles (it is my jeep #5 ) and the best of the bunch! 5 speeed auto, trac-lock diff, 3.21 rear end. i leave the ECO mode on most of the time..CHERRY RED soft top.
Jeeps are a blast and wayyy fun to drive. All years of jeeps are great, enjoy
every day with your Jeep. O:)

I can't do a lot--I don't know whether he has a manual/auto, but before regearing --get rid of the K&N air filter and just use a FRAM CA 10348 and that'll improve airflow-

Unless you messed up the muffler piping--that new muffler shouldn't hurt mileage and

If you 3.73 gears and a stick-you should try for 4.88 YUKON regears/w full rebuild kits and have a good shop buy/install the gears-

If you have an auto--then you can LIVE/w 4.88s, but just barely-this is assuming you're keeping your 35" tires/wheels-

Still gotta know what the tranny is--if auto, I'd recommend 5.13s--you'll be back to 15/16 mpg and "HOG HEAVEN" with O/D-

If it's a stick, the 4.88s will let you get back to using 6th gear--ON FLAT FREEWAYS !!

It's never simple--but regearing can cost from $1200 to $1800 for YUKONS/w warranty

Vehicle is 2011 Wrangler Unlimited. I have a ScanGauge II hooked up. I am reading 4 sets of data. I read instantaneous MPG, average (trip) MPG, engine coolant temp, and Transmission fluid temp. My vehicle readout average trip MPG is always .5 to 1 MPG higher than what my ScanGauge reads. I find this interesting in that both gauges are (I assume) extracting data from the same computer.

hi, scan guage reads the same data from the obd2 port I have one, also they read error codes on memory if u have any! enjoy ur Jeep , don't worry about a few mpg's.

I'm fortunate enough to have a work truck that I drive during the week and only have to pay for Jeep gas on the weekend but still would like to do as much as I can to this jeep to make it a little more powerful....I know there are alot of postings of gears but could you guys just give me the quick and easy on upgraded gears without searching through numerous posts...where to buy, what to buy where to install....

The number used to calculate MPG is expressed in time (injector duration),
so ScanGauge has to convert that to fuel volume to carry on with the rest
of the calculation. If you miss entering data at a fill-up, it will be off. Also
need to calibrate the speed (I use the GPS to determine the correction).

I was wondering why my MAP number was reading so low up at the
Eisenhower tunnel back in December... Seemed to be fine once we
got back towards Kearney...
