Tint came out Nice !!

Well got the driver and passenger done the other day at 30%. Legal here.

Then I had the guy do a banner on the windshield at 5%. Its 4.75", and I LOVE this. Makes it feel like Im driving a chopped top.

Its alot darker inside, and will get more when I add on the dirtydog sunshade,, this is black and covers the white inside of hardtop.

Looks Good :thumb:

I'm debating on tinting my front windows but I am unsure of what percentage to put on them.

If I were you, I would not go over what's the state law limit. In Utah it's 42% for the front and they are very strict over here.

Looks good. I was debating if I should have mine tinted and I am deciding against it for now. The main reason being, I will be switching between going doorless and half doors in the summer and so I didn't see any point to the tint on my full front doors

I thinted mine to a 5% sunlight comes in

basecamper 02-09-2012 05:08 PM

Looks great!! I wish I could have gone darker but our law is pretty strict here and I didn't want to have any issues.

Wow! I would get pulled over all the time if I had tint that dark here. 30% is the legal limit here and cops pull people over for it all the time if they think you are darker than this.

Blackened 02-09-2012 07:11 PM

Looks good. I did 20% all round on mine and 50% on the windshield.

That's a hard call, what with the blinding sun searing into your Jeep. Was that taken at the equator? Let me guess, Panama?

i have 20% on my front windows and 5% on the back. In New Jersey it's illegal to have front tint, but i just couldn't resist. I love how it looks!

jsmithtx 02-09-2012 09:34 PM

You will really enjoy in the summer!

doghound93 02-11-2012 12:36 AM

i got mine legal because i went to a eye doctor and they said i could get it because light affects my eyes and how did you tint your soft top windows

marc1230 02-11-2012 11:35 AM

how deep is the factory tint on the front windshield and does it impact night driving ?

Bravewimp11 02-18-2012 05:23 PM

I used the static cling stuff. $7/roll. I just layed it down and used an exacto knife to cut. Stays on even when take windows off and roll them up.

how hard was it to do urself? hows it holding up?

Bravewimp11 02-19-2012 12:22 PM

It took maybe 20-25min a side. I just laid the tint over the window and cut it out right on top. It's working great! No pealing, cracking or fading. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone in this forum can do it!

hidro if i remember right we cant go under like 35% here in colorado, been thinking of tinting all the windows on my hard top at least

Edit: 27% according to this and nothing reflective http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/CO/

1CrzyCelt 02-19-2012 12:33 PM

Hopefully everybody realizes that barely legal tint according to their states codes may illegal in another. Should you travel to another state, the odds of being stopped and cited are fairly high, especially at 20%. Some states codes actually state, "vehicles registered out of state are not exempt."

oops, guess I pooped on that party. :hide:

ClayL 02-19-2012 12:35 PM

to bad most states allow 25% percent light on the rear windows so if i ever did mine id be legel in every state because in colorado you have to allow more light (35%) through.

guess i rained on your party celt oh and this is the law for your state http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/GA/

how do you get 5% in the back?
i can only find inserts for 30%

Bravewimp11 02-19-2012 01:46 PM

I used the static cling stuff on top of the plastic

Firstjeep11 02-19-2012 01:54 PM

Mine are 15% up front and the back is factory. It matches very well. Also a poser shot.
Off topic
Thinking of 2.5 lift with my 285/70/75 duratrac. Think it would be to much. Don't offroading much.

Uh, yeah, I enforce the law in my state, but thank you for pointing out that colorado's code states 35%. I may have never cared before now.

bofa 02-19-2012 02:02 PM

In FL I've only ever been pulled over for window tint once, and the cop couldn't give me a ticket since there was no other reason to pull me over. Never had an issue no matter how dark I went.

However, I went with legal tint in my last car. I guess I'm getting old but it was hard to see pulling out of neighborhoods and parking lights where there aren't many street lights.

It's actually 27% but most people stop at 35% to be safe.

here in arizona most us city cops have full dark tint (off duty in uniform, only cops will understand this so no "thats no fair" comments please) so other agencies that have take home cars dont enforce it out of courtesy. would you guys in your state extend same courtesy??
