Please tell me that you didn't spend 20 million for a robotic brake just to build skid plates...

dave@rokmen 05-04-2012 12:07 PM

God No....

It was only $3.5m.....

And our laser cutter bought it.... ;)

Pilgrim_Jeep 05-04-2012 12:25 PM

Hey, if anyone buys one of these skids as an upgrade, and the stock skid you're taking off is not rusty, let me know and I'll buy it....

I absolutely love mine, it's as tough as you could want, heavy of course, but very very tough, no more blowing out fuel pumps.

This is the best pic I have of it installed, very high profile, sits about an inch higher than the stock tank wrap (I was using the Jerry Bransford method of adding oil to a rotated diff).

I have had mine for about 4yrs. and love it. It has taken a beating and still holding strong. Very good quality.

Ordered mine yesterday! Ready to get that stock one out of there, it's so beat up and crushed up. Luckily I haven't damaged the fuel pump and sending unit.

If you can afford to, they're expensive, but when I changed mine out I put in a new fuel pump assembly. I try to replace what I can when I have access to it, especially if it's really a p.i.t.a. to get to

Yeah might have to check in to the price on the fuel pump. Never enjoy pulling that stuff apart twice

I broke my fuel pump installing my skid...which sucked, but I was able to find a new replacement on eBay for a 3rd of the price. Just had to do some research and search a bunch of part number.

Nice! Mine will go on Thursday after it arrives FedEx. Excited to finally get rid of my beat up stock skid.

Excellent! Thanks for the feedback!

Got my fuel tank skid installed but ended up having to replace the fuel pump assembly because the high pressure connection snapped off. Such a bummer! Then I added a third brake light to my spare tire center cap but have to play around with the wiring to get it working tomorrow.

Ha, I did the same exact thing. Found a part number and bought mine on eBay for less than half of the going price.

Yeah I just didn't want to be broken for a week while I waited on the mail to get a new fuel pump. Killed me to spend $250 when I saw them as low as $130ish.

Lowest I found local for my 06 pump was like 450.

Ouch! Oriely was $230 plus tax. Napa was around that price though.

I found 03-04 pumps for that price. 05-06 were 200 bucks more.

Xjman1 03-23-2013 12:49 PM

If you close to Oxnard pm me and I will see what i can do for you for a fuel pump.

GoldenSahara00 03-23-2013 02:00 PM

How much clearance between gas tank and rear diff does the rokmen gain you?

Answered my own question. Their website says 1 inch.
