Stock Bumper light bar.

Hey guys, I am looking to put a light bar on my front bumper without having to put on an entire new one. Do ya'll know of any good bars that will attach to the stock bumper on a JK?

MBRP baby.

Here's a pic of Glue's MBRP. Mine is going on 2mrw.

Check out the new RC metal Stubby conversion also.

I'd post links but using my phone :(

I put this one on the wifes JKU. It does a good job but you really got to tighten it down to keep it from vibrating.

I sure wish she would let me plasti-dip her chrome grille. I got the plasti-dip setting in the shop and she backed out on me. Help me talk her into it.

Tell her the grill is easily removed and replaceable.

If my jeep was any other color it would be Bed lined for sure.

Heck, I've done had it out a dozen times. She likes her chrome. I just wanted to see what it would look like black for awhile. I like the ones with the blue grills, she don't.:nonono:

Will do.

From what I hear, the hoop is a little harder to install if you have a Rubicon with the sway bar disco motor in the way

Not too bad. Easier if you leave off the bottom plastic air dam piece. Good to have someone to help hold it too!

JKLIVIN 03-24-2012 07:11 PM

I am subscribed to this thread, what's the scoop on installing a MBRP along with a Rubicon? Can it be done without modifying the sway bar disco?

MuddyBruce 03-25-2012 10:22 AM

With the bar and 3 giant round lights directly in front of the grill, would airflow to the radiator be reduced, especially in hot slow off road driving? Does anyone notice temps going up?

CreepyJeeper 03-25-2012 10:37 AM

I also did the Rugged Ridge Light bar with the 3 Rugged Ridge 100w lights. Install was quick and easy. Love the way it looks and the lights throw enough beam to cover the ditches and light up beyond the head lights. (now I just need to get the stubby bumpers)!

JKLIVIN 03-25-2012 12:02 PM

The MBRP on line looks like it's good for 2007-2011.... I wonder if it will work on a 2012?

Not without relocating the vaccuum pump/bracket. I tried to install one on a friend's '12 and it's a no-go without the relocation

damndirtydog 03-25-2012 01:06 PM

I had the Rugged Ridge light bar before I changed bumpers and liked it a lot. Installs in about 20 minutes.

strider_mt2k 03-25-2012 01:25 PM

I picked up the RR light bar for mine.
Also picked up a vacuum pump relo kit for the job.

sclui56 03-25-2012 02:21 PM

If you are using the Mopar/RR bar on 2012, then you do not need to do anything to the vac pump. The instructions said to use the allen key to hold the nuts when threading the bolts through the side brackets because of the narrow clearance in the bumper support, I couldn't do it, ended up using a wire hanger and wrapped the nut, dropped it in the narrow slot, and threaded the bolt through, PITA.

If you have a stock bumber on. 2012 and add the MBRP grill guard can you still add a winch plate and winch? Thanks so much, first post...

Hi Buana,
I was wondering difficult was it to install the guard? Time, effort etc?
Thanks.

Beejay36 03-31-2013 09:57 PM

Or I guess same question for Cigar196...
Thanks!
